Prices are dependent on which world you're on (or potentially which world cluster), plus how long it's been since the plot became available (plus to some extent how 'desirable' the plot location is, though I'm not sure how this was determined). For a world with a higher population (or a low-population world where a larger percentage of the population are interested in personal housing) you can't wait for too long for the plot to devaluate, or someone will snap it up before you.

If you got it for 2.5mil, then congratulations. =) Here on Phoenix, that wouldn't even be close to enough. Maybe around 4mil, if it's one of the cheapest small plots, but... there aren't very many (if any) of those left ^^; I haven't looked at all the subdivisions since I personally am not interested in a private house. I have my FC house and that's enough for me.

It is dependent on the server. Houses on Legacy servers got three times as much. A small house on Lamia is like 1.8 million gil now.

LOTRO and Aion(according to my friend who plays) both have non instanced housing with enough for most or all players to have.

Why can't we have this here, in a subscription game?

Can't speak for LOTRO but Aion housing is quite expensive and comes with a hefty weekly maintenance fee. It is a huge money sink for those that wish to maintain one - which is a turn off for alot of players.

Or like FFXI, Rift, and Wild Star which are not limited at all and have at least some very low entry restriction options.

Hope Yoshida changes his statement on his happiness where the system is at, as it is currently "meh" by comparison IMO.

I am not in a hurry to get one. Or get to bent out of shape that I can't. But instead of belittling the OP or others respect that they are trying to get the system changed. They were lied to and marginalized. Unless they complain more they are not going to expect any response. Hell from the pr division of the company i work for response to issues "It isn't a problem unless someone officially complains. And no employees don't count"

With that said maybe its time for SE to have a sticky at the top, merge all the threads and delete future threads about housing. It seems to still be a hot button topic. A little forethought could clean this mess up on the forums.

FFXI's mog houses were much like the private rooms - just one big open space. No lawns. Decorating was severely limited because your furniture shared slots with your storage space, including gardening pots. (Also, gardening was not worthwhile below level 20 because of nerfs made due to gardening bots.)

About the only better thing about it was that it was free and available at level 1 in your home city.

Why was it free? Because it was the only place you could check your mail, change your job, or retrieve things from your storage moogle. XIV has no such restrictions on class changes, mog mail, or your retainers (you can check those at any public mail box or summoning bell and change classes anywhere you want.)
