RMT Out of hand

PSA. You know the Free Week? It's for everyone, so of course the RMT are going to be more rampant when they can pretty much continue to take advantage of the free login week provided by SE. Everyone keep saying ti's getting worse or it's out of control but watch it die down a bit after the 9th and also.

So they are doing something about it, but just like cockroaches when you squish them/kill them/get rid of them that doesn't make them extinct, they'll come back one way or another.

Well there's a thread in the "Being addressed/currently reviewing" forum about how RMT is still a problem. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...4-Gold-Sellers

But that thread has been there since 2013, and SE hasn't bothered to give any indication that they read it, despite people still asking for action on SE's part that isn't just manually banning a few RMT accounts.

So keeping the complaints to one thread certainly isn't gathering any attention from SE.

They will never be able to fully get rid of them and making a new thread about it everyday will not change that fact.

Or perhaps they need to see a lot of threads so they can grasp just how irritating it has gotten for us players. As it stands, if I remove busy I get 10 /tells or MORE an hour. I have friends I like to talk to and not all of them can be in my linkshell. So having to keep busy up or turning tells off is quite awful a solution.

/busy does indeed block friend requests.

I didn't know /busy would block this, I may have to do this. But seriously, most of Coeurl server have either turned their /tell chats or have gone into /busy status. When majority of a server resort to this, you have a problem. Yesterday, friend requests were out of control, it has elevated to an extreme level.

So this needs a new thread daily?

Yes, it's a problem that needs to be constantly addressed daily. They release all of these updates but nothing is being done to dealt with these RMTs.

Trial accounts cannot send tells, so this isn't due to the free weekend. On top of that, they have been posting those links since this game came out a year and a half ago so obviously banning isn't helping. They need a different tactic.

Nobody is asking for them to be completely gone. I think most people are aware that RMT will always be looking for a way to circumvent countermeasures. People want them reduced, considerably. Don't tell me that's not possible because no other game out there has them as bad as FFXIV does right now. I've been around the mmo block many times and haven't ever seen RMT tells this bad for this long anywhere else.

Well, yes and no. The trial accounts certainly can't be the ones sending out the tells and earning the gil. But I believe with the influx of new players, comes the influx of RMT attempting to sell gil to the new players.

It's certainly not something that should lead to turning off trial accounts, but new players tend to increase the efforts of the RMT. Kinda unavoidable.

By the time I block many of the NPCs, or try to at least, they say the character doesn't exist. RMT spam a bunch of people then delete the character and make a new one.

Honestly I get maybe four tells from RMT in a three hour period, so I guess my server just isn't that bad off, especially since I don't even receive any of those friend requests. I can also say with certainty this is the lowest amount of RMT I have ever had to deal with ArcheAge was the worst with WoW coming in close second, and on WoW they could just flood your mailbox since they didn't have to be on your friend list. At least here they have to trick you into accepting a friend request before maxing out your mailbox. I do agree reporting should be done easier, and at least for a time activate a character deletion timer. The only other thing they can do is to also prevent someone before lvl 15 from sending tells, but that won't do much as it can be done quickly and would only hurt newbies.

They are getting smarter also. My roommate plays in another server till her account to will let me transfer her to balmung. And while she's playing she's had hundreds, but last night they started sending friend requests then bombing her with tells between friends requests. Because apparently you can't blacklist someone while there's an active freida request from them.

Took me 4-5 tries of quickly deleting the friend request and trying to select the name for black list before I got it because they kept re sending the friend request right after I'd delete and reject the last one for her.

Ended up having it happens 3 times with the whole friend request/tell bombing.
