Server load is limited. Both amount of houses/districts and housing item cap depend on server load.

If they're going to add more houses then we will have to deal with painful restrictions on amount of items we can use/place.

Availability of housing is mostly Balmung issue, on my server (which is relatively big) land plots were unused for months. Item cap hurts all servers without exception.

It's pretty clear to me that item cap should be given priority and land availability is a matter of secondary importance. And, yeah, you can always transfer to low population world. It's not like you have a house to lose, right?

There are some medium houses available on my server as well in the subdivisions, and there was a while after subdivisions came out that small houses were available in some of the wards further down the list, and I kept telling friends and people in my FC- you need to buy one of these while you can, what are you waiting for, there's a finite supply! 'Nah I'm good, I need to work on gearing my crafters/3rd relic/whatever.' Now though people have changed their minds and its too late for them, meanwhile I'll be harvesting a few million worth of crops from my garden in the next few days.

I know that's not the same as on Balmung where houses probably sold out in seconds and people who were able & willing to buy a house didn't get a chance to do so... but I just felt like using this opportunity to gloat in the case of people on less populated servers who let a chance to buy a small house go by for months without taking it.

Crab mentality as hell in here.

Also, from what I could read from official sources, I thought that they said they could add as many districts as needed. Was it stated somewhere that their servers cannot handle additional housing plots? Cause with a population of 4 million paying players and probably growing, this situation is not impossible on other servers.

Just take away housing districts instances yes they look nice have a good feeling of being part of a neighborhood but the land needs is dumb first come first serve.

I'd rather have more open world stuff besides free company housing is more important than personal housing.

Agreed, the housing needs on Balmung are woefully unmet and that issue needs to be rectified. From what I've heard, when Heaven's Ward gets released they are going to be upgrading their servers and thus more space for housing would be possible. If this is the case then I am patient and willing to wait till June to get my house. I got my 38mil and eyes set on lot 11 in the lavender beds! On Balmung each time new wards are released the houses, with the exception of large, go within the first few minutes. So if that isn't telling on how seriously short the housing needs are on the server I don't know what is. I think doubling what we currently have would go a long way with our needs, though even that might not be sufficient. Also more info I heard, and again this is hear say, was that in the 3.X series they were planning on adding more wards along with a new Ishguard housing area. If this is true I wouldn't mind confirmation from someone!

However if this is not the case then Square needs to treat Balmung as it's own stand alone realm, regardless of what the bitter bitches from the lower populated servers think as this has nothing to do with them so they can STFU and take a seat. Server transfers would do little to change Balmung as most people, in my prediction, wouldn't want to leave the server. Though they certainly wouldn't hurt any, free transfers off Balmung should be put on the table in addition to the extra wards.

I personally don't mind everyone giving their opinion, for or against the addition of more housing. But when that opinion includes them thinking they have any say in what I should do, and how my wants somehow impacts them negatively, I can only shake my head in disbelief.

The game's been out for two years, now. Get over yourselves. The initial "Legacy" vs. "New servers" "war" should be over by now. Heck, it should never even have existed in the first place. Give reasons for people to want to join your server instead of trying to pin the blame on others. You're giving your server a bad name.

All I'm saying that there are perks for being in a big server and a small server. It is what it is. Sure my server is small, I know that and I'm not gonna make anyone transfer here. There are pros and cons though such as having housing wards, (potentially) less laggy, you'll temd to run into people you will recognize, everyone will have history with everyone, if you're good then everyone will know it and the same goes if you're bad and it's a bit more close knit as a server because hey you'll see the same face over and over.

I'd imagine it will be somewhat opposite in bigger servers. So again pros and cons. The grass is not greener on the other side and both sides have different sets of problems.

Which brings us back originally to why should SE cater and give special treatment to a specific server. In my opinion just let the servers fix their own problems to an extent. Can't find a static in a small server? Transfer to a bigger one. Can't find a plot? Transfer to a smaller one. Those are just examples. You can't expect SE to infinitely add housing wards. I'd imagine even if they do increase it, the larger servers would demand more.

Tl;dr: people should fix their own issues.

Oh and p.s. I'm not against having more housing wards. I'm against special treatment. Like the lady pointed out back in page 2, we're all paying the same subscription fee*

*not including optionals and different ways of paying it...blah you know what I mean.
