Not to mention RMT will have an even easier way to make gil now and I thought the whole purpose of having crafting as it was was to stop that?

This is why I'm hoping they tie it into the class specific gear cause think about it. How difficult is it to just speicalize in one DOL/DOH when you need the gear specifically for that class. I could see them doing perks where you can only craft specific items when you have x class set on.
Much like how the beastmen dailies require you to use those gloves I could see them do the same thing with future items but see the thing is.
If they do do that it means the following:
-Just having the gear won't be enough since you would still need to have the required
Craft/Control to perform the synth
So while one could collect the whole set of gear and have "access" to the synths in order to access all of them you'll also need to materia said gear to fulfil all the requirements.
IMO this would please both sides, for those who can't focus on all crafts they just focus on the one they want, materia that up and bam access to all those "specialization" and then for those who have the means and resources to specialize in more can materia all their classes for access to more recipes.
Didn't at one of the fanfests they said doing a tome type system where you had a capped currency where you could buy certain mats as a way to gate craft progression.
Isn't this the name of the next tier of crafting gear? (Ex: artisan's gear) It would make no sense to lock crafting. We wouldn't be able to be self sufficient anymore and we would lack skills to HQ items.
My guess:
You can level all crafting classes to 60, but a certain subset of gear will be probably locked to one crafter per character.
I wasn't saying they were the same, but they are already walling DoW/DoM's progressions with so many grinds and lockouts that having two BiS classes it's practically impossible. It was a loose comparison to mean that "you can do everything in one character" hasn't been exactly true for a while now, so this specialization thing doesn't really come as a surprise.
if its gonna restrict my crafters in any way it will make me very unhappy desynth wasnt fun for me simply cause i cant max it for all crafters... if this will restrict me being self suficient and being able to craft everything by meself i wont like it... as for people saying profits are low cause everyone can make it.... do you even know what you saying? yes everyone can make stuff after investing X mil into all of there crafters not to mention time conmitment. and most prices are to high for common players anyway who will buy a primal weapon or i110 gear o accessories sets that easli? no one introducing specializations and rising the prices on such items wont do any good to anyone making monny for crafters in its current state of the game isnt hard and main fun part of it is that you can make everything by yourself people buy if they dont want to invest there time into doing it... introducing RESTRICTIONS(from the name thats how i see this system) wont make it fun for anyone.
That's what I was thinking;
Just like with DoW/DoM, you'd only be able to get one piece of gear a week. You'd then have to specialize in a craft the same way, though still eventually be able to get everything.
Hoping they do that anyway... If the specialization comes after the new gear, and the new gear requires melding... F*ck it...
Profit isn't the only issue with everyone being able to make everything. The bigger issue is that there's nothing to do with your profit. Why should I buy anything when I can make all of it myself? There are very few things to spend gil on.
The issue goes both ways.
Specialization via restrictions would suck because it would mean now I have to grind alts to be self-sufficient.
