Like most glamor items you can try on before you buy this shouldn't be any different. It has nothing to do with a cash shop.
    this is what i meant
i want to be able to see how it will look on my character. not how i looks on on a picture we don't even get the full 360 degree view of. if in the end they add more hairstyles to this so be it. at least let me see how it looks with a "try on" function before i buy something i might not even like.

I bought the hairstyle first for my Elezen. Was pretty excited till I dawned it. It looked like someone could land an aircraft on my forehead. LOL I switched back to my normal style. It also made it difficult for anyone to determine my gender. Lalafells are near impossible now to tell apart if they use this hair style.

It's only fair. I saw a female lalafell I thought was male, until I saw her name and gemstone. Now the males can gender bend, too!

It feels wrong to me.

I don't even mean to say that all hairstyles should be handed out freely, either. The Lightning hairstyle is or was (I don't remember) obtained by doing at least a part of that questline, as I recall. That seems fine. But grinding currency to purchase hair doesn't feel right.

I'm probably the odd one out, though. I can't complain for lack of things to do. I actually complain that there is too much to do, to the point it feels overwhelming. I still haven't fought Leviathan, or any of the Extremes on my main. I haven't got a single Atma. I don't have half the classes I want to try leveled. I just don't like grinding, but so much of the game is grinding, so I often feel discouraged from playing at all. I'd much rather have nothing to do and just log on to socialize, do dungeons, and roleplay. Instead, I usually feel like I'm wasting time if I'm not working on a grind. :P
I think RPGs typically have a level of grind system there which is unavoidable, but probably the MMO factor makes it different. The typical single player RPGs, you can just play for the story and throw it to a corner once it is done. You can play at any speed you want and do the optional quests and bosses at any pace you want, it is rather cool. But probably not an MMO, as updates comes constantly. If one can't spend decent time in an MMO, one would definitely get left behind and feels discouraged. I think it's natural. I'd feel discouraged when every Tom, Dick and Harry have the latest shinies and even their grandma has it but not me. So yeah some times, you need to consider if MMO is suitable for you or not.

But then I guess if you liked this game and community, what you are doing is fine then. For me there are usually long periods where I just wait for new content but I still log on to AFK, chit chat or just do some random shits with in-game friends.

i just got the new hairstyle and i do like it; however, this system still needs to be able to let us try on hairstyles that become added to the golden saucer. just because i am satisfied with the hair does not mean somebody who bought it and tried it on did not like it.

One thing they could do is simply add the hairstyle to the list of ones you can change to, which acts as a preview anyway, and simply have the game say "You must unlock this hairstyle before you can use it".

I bought it to see it on my toon, I was a bit disappointed. I think it could have looked better for having to spend winnings on it. 1.) I wish it was longer... 2.) the part looks ugly 3.) only pro thing I can say about it, is if I wear a hat it doesn't tuck my hair in it anymore. But I went back to my 'usual non-clipping' hairstyle within a day.

Honestly, I don't care where or how hairstyles are placed, but ones I have to buy with any kind of currency, 'real' or digital, need to have a 'try on' option.

I bought the hair style during the late afternoon of the patch day and i was like bummer this hairstyle was so not worth the 8k mgp i'll never get back.

Gambling to win is one thing but to gamble on buying stuff due to no try on feature is wrong.
No one else had it that was on i guess and no pics were posted within that timeframe. So i had no ideaaaaaa how short the ponytail would be.
    Sad day that was ;_;
And the " u should have waited for someone else to get it so u can see how it looks" is out of the question. U need to stfu and underdtand that that is a bandaid solution.
We need a damn try on button for hairstyles.
    End of discussion.
