It's more of a relic from 1.0, where they apparently had an idea of SOMETHING they wanted to do with it beyond resist bonuses, but ultimately it didn't pan out.Never understood why there are such useless options in some games. For example choosing a guardian deity in this game does not have any impact on the game or the plot. It's just there to puzzle new players who will not know what to choose and for what reason. I know that some people like such things that build up the huge lore but those options do not have any impact in game thus they are totally useless.
Now it's pretty much there just to make characters a bit more diverse.
Menphina, the Lover. Her being linked to my favorite element, ice, and anything relating to the moon drew me to her. And then I remember reading she had Fenrir as her personal guard hound, which sealed the deal. Funny enough my partner at the time chose Oschon at random. I didn't make the connection they were divine lovers until after.
Menphina. Not only is she the Moon'qote's guardian deity, but she is the goddess of love.
Nearly 15 years ago when Everquest 1 came out, I was really impressed with this little tidbit of EROLLISI MARR's description:
Since then, I have pretty much always favoured those type of deities whenever they show up in fantasy games.Originally Posted by EQ Deities

Thaliak, for the simple reason that I appreciate knowledge and wisdom in all its forms. Now, whether I give off that impression or not is an entirely different thing.![]()
I chose Rhalgar cause he seemed Monk like and I knew I wanted to main MNK without looking at combat or anything whatsoever, turns out he was.
I take what I like and I like what I take!
Thaliak. For reason's involving what I like to think of as my character's backstory.
That, sadly, is totally true. :/ Personally, I still hope they are gonna do something with them... sooner or later.Never understood why there are such useless options in some games. You're adorable. Stop being down on yourself. /hug
I've always gone with Oschon (since 1.0), because the wanderer god just sorta makes sense for an adventurer. As a Seeker I should have gone with Azeyma, but it seemed like leaving the clan warranted a change in patron deity.
The whole adventurer deal led me to pick Oschon. Kroemgarr as a character probably has respects for both him and Byregot.
Rhalgr the Destroyer, because it sounded great![]()
