Most of the content in this game does not require BiS, does not require perfect rotations and does not require anything more than generic levels of DPS. It only really comes into play during some EX trials and some higher end raids where DPS checks plays bigger part. Now maybe because you live in that bubble of farming such EX and raid content that you have become blind to the what is outside that bubble but if they add a personal DPS checking target dummy (which only that player can see their DPS and of which cannot see anyone else's to avoid much of the harassment that goes with party wide parsers) it should be OPTIONAL and not mandatory to use that feature.

I once played a game with an in game parser, it was called a scorecard. And at the end of a raid or dungeon it would pop up on the screen and give you the total damage out each player did, as well as damage in, healing out, healing in, how many times you died, how many times player X picked up someone so on and so forth. I cant tell you how much better that game would have been with out that scorecard.

All it did was breed bad players, players wouldn't stop to help you up, wouldn't dodge damage because it would interfere with their damage out, healing out, which in turn would cause them to die and no one would pick them up because of the same mind frame, and well you get the point "wipe". And then the snubbing of players because player A did X amount of damage less as compared to player B, you guys and gals get the point. A parser will not make someone better, only practice and experience can do that.

Rather play a game where the developers allow players to enjoy the game how they wish to do so within some basic guidelines such as rules to stop harassment, cheating and such than play one that follows your tyrannical dictatorship stepping on anyone who plays differently to yourself and forcing them into a single play style, your desired play style via mandatory DPS checks on everyone, even those who do not care for the small amount of content in this game that would even require such DPS checks.

Thank god your not in charge of design decisions in this game. If you were in charge of design decisions for this game, it would crash and die off much like Wildstar. The hardcore raiders like yourself are a microscopic fraction of this player base and as such the amount of content for that minority is also smaller, to try and enforce your hardcore and extreme views onto everyone else would be the death of this game as it has been with other MMO's.

If a DPS check target dummy was put into the game in which can only see your own DPS to avoid harassment it should be optional and not mandatory, the amount of content that would even come close to requiring use of such in a mandatory way is very tiny comparatively to the amount of content in this game in general and the fraction of the player base who hold hardcore and extreme views similar to your own being also very tiny minority of the overall player base.

Forcing mandatory use by the tiny minority onto the majority of players is not the best way forward, forcing the use because of the tiny amount of content that would make use of it is also not the right way to do things compared to the majority of content which is does not. If you cannot see that then I advise you broaden your mind and come out of your bubble.

Yoshi-P basically said he does not want parsers because there is this group that would abuse it.

On the other hand, when the question about stats was asked, the reply we got was that they will leave that to the community to figure it out since it belongs in an MMO. How are we supposed to test stuff w/o a parser? Does he really think the info we have now come from people checking and calculating the battle log? Does he really think we "estimated" that DRG dps was too far behind compared to MNK (and NIN when it came out). Do you really think they never see how at this point 9 out of 10 streams also stream a parser? I think they hid behind the "abuse" argument long enough now.

A parser would make people far more aware of the imbalance we face at the moment (melee destryoing casters in general) and of course make people more aware of their own DPS which could lead to more cry threads. I think this is the bigger reason they don't want it.

The bigger question should be why everyone wants a parser so badly in the first place. This game is simple enough; anyone that lacks DPS either needs to pump out the deeps more, die less, get better gear, or start melding materia.

Bad Rotations and habits can be reflected by a parser when compared to someone's numbers.

On another note, I never entirely understood the harassment claim on parsers being available to everyone. If that already exists at current, with those who have access to it harassing others (not everyone uses parsers for this purpose), why would giving everyone parsers hurt?

If people can see their own numbers and compare it to others no one else would have to tell them they are low, they would see it themselves. This may incline people to seek guidance to improve themselves. If people were to then harass them all the same, mind you most likely in content that REQUIRES high DPS like the end game raids, why would someone feel bad about being called out on their low dps when, they can see for themselves they are indeed low?

If this then created a hostile environment to that person and they were forced out of it, the only solution becomes get help or don't participate in end-game.

Now consider this same situation with no official parser in the mix. You quite literally have the same exact situation. Those who already cant hold their weight are either called out, and don't seek help cause they just tend to file it under (harassment) or they tend to be carried by several high end players to pick up their slack, which now your end game community suffers for it cause they have to deal with these people mixing in.

Parsers FORCE people to get better. If people choose to rebel against that but still want to participate in end-game, where parsers are really used, then the problem isn't the parser, the problem is you the player.

Yes because you need a 3rd party tool to enjoy a game. You need a 3rd party tool to tell you what is being done wrong. You need a 3rd party tool to tell you how to figure out your own rotation. Pathetic, simply pathetic. There is a rotation for a REASON, optimal DPS is going to be lost by breaking your rotation, it cannot be helped unless you eat a mechanic and continue to DPS. The reason why parsing will always lead to negativity is due to elitist needing to one up one another and quite frankly I'm tired of it. Elitism is the terrible mindset "I'm better than you due to my numbers being higher and my gear being better."

That's good for you, the fact that you need a 3rd party program to tell you how to play a game show's that you have a mind of I hate to say it a common plebeian. It's why Yoshi-P said "Hell no" to parsing. It breeds negativity. It breeds animosity. It doesn't matter if you're polite about someone's numbers. There are people in this game who play to have fun, it is not a job. The day you turn a game into a job is the day it's not a game any more it's nothing more than a strenuous task that you do for 8 hours or more until you get tired of it.
