Interesting I guess it confirms that Dravanians and Meracydian dragons are related (their brood mother/fathers being siblings)

With all this talking about covenants/agreements it seems as if Ishgardians had a similar covenant with the Dravanians which they subsequently broke. I do wonder why it took 1000 years for the eorzean wyrmlord to call them to arms?

Well, they did stab him in the face and take his eye. Nidhogg, I mean. They also say he's been sleeping, so maybe he just woke up? The Dravanians have been fighting for some time against the Ishgardians, but maybe what we're seeing is an escalation?

So, seven children... Fafnir, Nidhogg, Tiamat, Ouryu, Vrtra, Bahamut, Shinryu? Just as well, there are only two in Eorzea. If Bahamut still counts as one, that leaves the very, very, very likely Nidhogg.

Also, do we think there's a mommy (Wyrm Queen) in the picture, or did he(it) lay all those fertilized eggs himself?

From the looks of it, he probably willed them into existence.

Could be. I mean, a being created by the twelve, who seems to be of close relation to Hydaelyn and can cleanse ones "blessing"... Who's to say he wasn't given the power of creation.

The only thing we did really by ourselves was to sneak into the praetorium. And helped creating the crystal braves. And that's about all for now (more coming in 2.55 at least ^^)

However, about Primals, I don't think it's THAT great an issue that we lost the blessing of light.

Only Ifrit tried to temper us. Titan wanted to bury us alive for trepassing his sanctuary, Garuda wanted to straightly rip us apart, Leviathan wanted to drown us, Ramuh didn't care at all about us and would just have blown up everything if that would mean saving the forest, the Mog came because reasons but had no business with us and Shiva was only summoned because we were attacking.

So all in all, only one Primal would have been "dangerous" without the blessing. Maybe the other primals that we'll see in 3.0 and onwards will be more akin to Shiva and Ramuh : they do not wish to harm us but to test us and to help us learn further on our wolrd and the true meaning of our power.

As for Midgarsormr action, I think he just severed our connection to Hydaelyn in the sense which we won't be able to rely anymore on her power to defeat our foes. No more help against tempering, no more shield of light to protect against mass destructive weapons, etc.

Time to become a real hero, I'd say

I don't believe Bahamut is one of Midgardsormr's children - Bahamut appears to be more powerful to me.

But one does have to wonder if the twelve truly exist, and if so who they really are and tehir role in shaping the world. Is it Hydaelyn > Twelve or vice versa?
I'm rather interested in what role Midgardsormr will play in the story from now on, since he's spying on us now and seems to be interested in out actions.

    Isn't Bahamut a primal?
That puts him into a slightly different category than something like Midgarsormr or Nidhogg. The latter being physical, though powerful beings, rather than the former's summoned state. That's why the Allagans captured all the Meracydian dragons to keep Bahamut summoned.

That says to me he's either not Midagard's son or he was, was killed or died, and was subsequently summoned?

Garuda tries to temper the player after you fight her, but not only does it not work, it bounces back and rips the Wind Crystal out of her in the process.

That said, the loss of the shield of light, while a worrying one with regards tempering, may not be a critical one necessarily. There's still enough of the Echo that allows the player to understand Ascian speech, although whether there will be any more Echo-flashbacks is an open question at this point. And the Warrior of Light's abilities in fighting are certainly not diminished.

I thought Bahamut started out as one of the original brood of the Meracydians. That he truly did live, died, worshipped and eventually summoned as a primal. Obviously, his primal-hood transcended his original limits.

That and we also have to keep in my the forced-prayers of the meracydian dragons in stasis + absorbing aether for thousands of years will make him VERY powerful
