Maybe I should have just made a thread titled:

Do away with this ridiculous gear damage system.

I can't do that however without addressing this key issue first. I'm all for a Death Penalty, even a more harsh one. Preferably one that penalizes you on all deaths to punish each and every person who fails, not just those ones unlucky enough to be solo. That isn't the general consensus though so I suggested something a little more easy mode.

Maybe I am wrong and the majority of people like to stand around afk with gear repairs in their bazaar. Another issue which needs to be addressed... Not only does it take up 2 slots, it doesn't even have its own separate window so it kills your bazaar.

Do you also like how you can't sell or trade gear to friends and/or another character until you find someone to fix it? How fun is that little addition when you want to try out a piece of gear for a little bit? There are much better ways to do a death penalty.

It's a return upon death penalty btw, not a true DP. It mainly is a pain in the ass for solo players.

Players don't want to repair gear because it takes time and money. Dying will cause you to lose durability faster, meaning more repairs. Players don't want to die because it means they will have to repair more. Seems like the intended effect to me. Only thing I can agree with is a rework of the repair UI by either only having it take one slot or have it's own separate window. Also agree with penalizing any death, raise or not - 5% for raise, 10% for return.

So you are fine with a death penalty that doesn't exist in group settings? Try reading those posts!

Really don't like the repair system.. at least not in its current form. If we could repair EVERYTHING via NPC for a reasonable price (not 3k for under rank 20 equipment..) to 100% it would be fine with me. Right now we can't repair accessories via NPC, they can't do it to 100%, and they charge way too much. It is not acceptable to waste hours waiting around at the repair NPC with a little flag up hoping someone will fix your stuff.. just like it is not acceptable to have to keep your character logged in to sell your stuff. I know FFXIV is trying to be unique with their stuff, but regular repairing and an Auction House system that is concurrent with a modern MMO (not FFXI's for the Twelve's sake..) is all you need. Be unique somewhere else! XD

Is this the thread where I complain how easy it is for people to get raise, or the one where I complain that raise isn't available enough? I need directions, as my complaints are all valid and such.

I find the general idea way that death is handled to be fine.

I would tinker with the gear damage penalty a bit so that a person can die while trying a dungeon all night and not have to repair until they log on the next day. That is, if you die every time. I figure returning on KO 15 times before being completely broken would be more than fine.

It has an immediate penalty, weakness.
It has a longer term penalty, gear damage.

Its fine. It prevents zombie tactics with weakness, and it prevents lemming tactics with gear damage. Both of those tactics always seemed lame to me, despite being effective in other games.

I always liked the way Demonsouls handled their death penalty. without a special item, you came back with 20% of your health, maximum, you lost all of your currency, you were in soul form, AND all of the enemies increased in difficulty with additional deaths.

This death penalty is nothing. Repairing your gear isnt really a death penalty either. Its only a penalty when you return instead of being raised.

Should offer more compensation to a crafter. I repair stuff all the time, but if you expect me to repair non-LSmates for no profit... your gear can remain damaged.

Besides, getting a craft to 36 is easy, and that will allow you to repair up to rank 46 items. Getting to 40 is more difficult.
