Sorry best friend of 20 years (who mains dps) I'm no longer allowed to run with cos some random dude on a forum had a bad experience.

better request might be "please don;t priorities fc mates running dps over healing random tanks"

As it is there's enough pressure on healers what with tanks pulling everything between each boss without even a word if the healer can or wants to handle it and then get pissy at the slightest mistake.

Sorry this thread gets my back up.

    1. That has nothing to do with "friends > strangers". This is the effect of a terrible disease called the "idiot heals". Tank and healers always get priority on the heals.

    2. You need to work on controlling your own enmity generation in that second example. When I heal and someone is mindlessly spamming actions without considering hate build up (and also ignoring tips, suggestions) I will most likely let you die once too.

That's a pretty bizarre request the op is making. I have never run into this issue, and by you saying this happens to you a lot makes me question your credibility. How do you even know they are in the same fc and its not just an honest mistake?

I feel you on this one, but I think you're just unlucky (bad server/time maybe?). I would like to think most people don't do that. I know I don't, and the healers that I've seen in my FC the few times I've run with them don't.

For this one though, I gotta agree with the healer. You could have just not attacked or been more careful.
There are aggro meters in the game. There's the icon/color monster list. green/square = good, yellow/Up arrow = still good, orange/Down Arrow = careful there, red/circle = you got aggro.

There's also bars next to each person's party name to show the relative aggro you have on the monster selected.

If you see you're about to overtake the tank and the monster isn't about to die, maybe you should stop. Maybe cycle through the monster list see if there's another monster the tank has aggro on that you can attack (while watching aggro meters). When a DPS takes aggro, it can be annoying for a healer because since you're squishier thank the tank, you need more heals, which means the healer now has a greater chance of pulling healing aggro, which then they have to heal themselves, which means more heals and more healing aggro - that is, unless the tank can manage to take it back. Why cause that frustration if you can just stop your DPS for a little while or spread it carefully to another mob?

Though if it were me, I'd still heal you if it was the first/second time it happened (provided that I could safely do so while keeping tank alive) - accidents do happen.

I'm sorry you ran into a bad group, but asking the rest of us not to queue with friends is a bit much. If anything, I expect MORE from my friends/FC mates because it's well established by experience that they are good players with good equipment. That's not to say that people in the DF are NOT these things, but we understand that the DF is a crapshoot. We may get someone just as geared and skilled as we are. We may get someone in i55 gear that's just starting out and needs things explained. I honestly take my friends more to task for mistakes because some things they should just know better. I have been known to jokingly yank their chain a bit when they mess up. ^^

If the healer heals a DPS friend over a DF tank, they are a terrible healer. End of story. When I queue in a premade, the people that I queue with know that if it comes down to it, I will let them die and raise them rather than let the tank go down and wipe the run. During a pull, the tank has priority and all of us understand that no matter which role we happen to be in. As tank, I do everything in my power to keep hate but to put it bluntly, shit happens. If you are a DPS that is ripping hate off the tank, you may need to stop attacking for awhile or pick another target and allow them to re-establish their hold. It goes with the territory, especially if the group's tank is less geared than you. Sometimes, yes, you must stop attacking or attack another target. DPS that constantly pull hate will be allowed to die whether it be my FC mate/friend or a random from Duty Finder.

I've had plenty of randoms be quite glad to land in a premade with myself and 1-2 of my friends simply because we work well together and we know the dungeon mechanics. We are all well geared and tend toward huge pulls, but if we get someone newer or undergeared, we're willing to slow it down and explain mechanics. I do have to say that when we happen to get a random with us that's a total asshat (which has only happened a few times), we have no problem kicking them. Also keep in mind the fact that us queueing as a 3 man premade and getting a random 4th helps the queue a lot more than us queueing in a complete 4 man party, especially if our 4th is a DPS.

tank (& other healer if there is one) >>> others

Mind you, I AM more aware of my friends in the party... doesn't mean I've forgotten the basics of dungeoning. =_= Like others have said, you just had a run of bad luck with healers.

Has less to do with running with friends and more to do with being bad healers. I run with pugs and FC members mixed all the time. We don't have this problem because we have good healers.

If i have a FC member in with me while i'm healing and they're taking avoidable damage it's their own fault. If i can throw a heal, sure, if not i just enjoy the lolz ^_^

As to you pulling aggro tho, yeah, that's your fault, and i'd let you die too. It's called pay attention to your aggro bar and switch targets if you get too close to pulling.

I run everything I can with my fc/ls because they aren't retarded and i avoid wonky situations like the op describes. If your friends/fc are such terrible players they can't make the decision to heal the tank instead of raise the drg for the 5th time, you need new friends, not demand everyone stop playing with their fc.

I play tank all the time in df solo and i can't recall any situation like OP descibes....ever. some healers are just bad.
