New Race Announced! The Au Ra

I'd love if they made black sclera an option for Au'ra.

Until we get the full story of the Au Ra, just using speculation, anyone else think the thought of an Au Ra dragoon ironic? No clue if something like this was already posted as this site isn't friendly to my phone regarding search.

I guess it depends of if Au Ra consider themselves "kin" to the Dragons, or find themselves siding with the Ishgardians in the Dravinian war.

..... but that's likely a major crutch of 3.0's storyline.

they could also consider themselves neutral with a few here and there that are helping one side or the other

Ultimately...man, I dunno...

I've got an alt already, and they feel pointless. I can do everything on this character. I like this character. Only, this character's identity as a Sun miqo'te is pretty much set in stone now (I'm an old-school RPer type), so I can't see them switching to something else.

At the same time, I'm seeing, and as a result, speculatively sketching a possible Au Ra character. Female, Monk as primary job. Straight easygoin' girl in comparison to this hardcore buccaneer lady I'm rolling as now. I want to do this, but this game's alt-unfriendliness (and my lack of free time due to having, y'know, a full time job) is a deterrent.

Overall, I think I want to hear more, a lot more, about Square-Enix's philosophy on alt characters in this game and how that factors into their decision to introduce a new race.

Au ra are going to make /amazing/ looking dragoon, and you could play it off as a good dragon who hunts evil dragons, or an instinctive power struggle of sorts..

This will be made even better when the dragon mount happens, then you get to be a dragon riding dragon person who hunts dragons

While I have no job atm, I would STILL make an Au Ra alt despite having the means to use Fantasias to turn one of my many alts into an Au Ra.
RP'ing just means that much more to me than simple convenience.

The following is what I expect via current in-game implementation and the Au Ra video:

・Bust Size
・Skin Color
・Scale Color
・Tail Shape
・Tail Length
・Hairstyle
・Hair Color
・Face
・Jaw
・Eye Shape
・Iris Size
・Eye Color
・Eyebrows
・Nose
・Mouth
・Lip Color
・Horn Shape
・Horn Size
・Facial Features
・Tattoos
・Tattoo Color
・Face Paint
・Face Paint Color
・Voice

The following options collaborate both male and female options, as I doubt males would get bust size and females muscle tone (despite Hyur(F) having this option.)
As for the horn color, scales options would be link the the color of horns and scales, (again judging this from the video.)

So it's weird to me people are "hoping" for an option to color your scales. Isn't it clear? It is for me, anyway.

I know what you mean. I think this may somewhat limit the 3.0 Au Ra extravaganza, too. Basically, if you aren't big on alts, you have to be willing to ditch your current race and possibly buy a Fantasia. Of course there are new players too, but if the game is new to you then Au Ra won't particularly stand out as THE hot new thing.

Still, I am sure there are many players like myself that will be happy to change race if they find in the Au Ra something that they couldn't quite attain before.
