Once physical levels are gone, will racial stats start to matter?

I like the racial stats how they are. They're different, but not different enough to make a substantial difference the way they were in FFXI. I like that Plainsfolk Lalafell have slightly higher physical stats, while Dunesfolk have higher magic stats. The difference is only 1-2 points, but it's still there, and that's kinda cool.

I think it should, a more distinct character in the end.

Plus...a lalafell hitting naturally as hard as a roegadyn?
