i'm seeing two camps in here.
Those who enjoyed the events in guild wars 2. (which i half did. i find that they're too convoluted and involved most of the time. and i don't think a jumping puzzle makes for a good focus point for an event.)
And those who enjoy something a little simpler. where it's the people you're with that make the event truly worth it. A time of the year where gameplay can take a backseat and community can take over and you can just chill out. (cold pun).
