New Race Announced! The Au Ra

I wonder if you use a fantasia to change to an Au Ra if you still get to keep your legacy tattoo. Lore wise this doesn't make any sense because there were no Au Ra at the Battle of Carteneau and thus could not have been branded with the mark and sent forward in time.

This doesn't have to be the case, its really a case of circumstance. Garlemald conquered Othard decades before they showed up in Eorzea, its not unthinkable that some Auri fled and went to ground in continents as-of-yet untouched by the war such as Thavnair or our own Aldenard, I myself am working on a backstory along those lines, as to their appearance we could take a page out of yugiri's book. This is a world in which magic is commonplace, a little smoke and mirrors is all it'd take for our draconic friends to appear, visually, as a miqo'te or whatever best suits their individual body structure.

Just got my Odin minion and noticed that the description mentions the new race:

"Many have pondered why a dark divinity with roots in northern mythology would wield a blade with a decidedly Far Eastern name. A popular theory is that Odin acquired the blade upon slaying an Auri warrior who was the first ever to notch his theretofore unsullied plate."

I wonder, are they mentioned anywhere else?

Given the context I assume "Auri" is an early (mis?)translation of Au Ra, or perhaps the plural form. Remember at the time this minion was released the race was very likely in the early development stage.

Not really mad. I'm more just disappointed that they had an opportunity to bring more variety of race into the game, and they didn't take it. They look pretty much like every other race in this game: A human with accessories.

It would be more interesting why Louisoix was saving them and sending enemies through time?
Did he know they will switch sides? But if so, how?

I love people saying that bring monstruous or beast race will bring more variety, the trouble is the playerbase.... you found it appealing to play this sort of race, ok, sadly most people don't find it appealing. adding a race that will only be played by a small part of the playerbase is a huge loose of time and money.

to zumi Lore wise Fantasia's exist so to them they would assume if they saw the tatoo that you either took a fantasia, or you got one mimicking, plus lore wise the only ones who know about the tattoos meaning is the players themselves and maybe the scions

Well lore wise Fantasia doesn't really transform you, it just makes you believe you did, according to Ferne at Fanfest.
