Well, I can see Cid getting trapped their for a while and Nero taking over for a bit... I just can't see what else they can do with him at this point.

In all seriousness... I don't think Cid is done with Eorzea. Have you seen what they've shown of Machinist? That has Cid's name all over it and I have little doubt he will have a hand in it. If the Job was all about the gunplay I'd not say this, but when they tossed out that little drone I was sold on Cid being the Job handler. If it isn't Cid, I will be flabbergasted.

I imagine it will be a similar situation to Yugiri and Ninja; You'll be taught by someone completely new, probably someone associated with Garlond Ironworks, and they'll make passing mentions of Cid.

I feel like making a new character just to see if the references to Lady Yugiri made throughout the questlines is default to everyone, or actually extra dialogue aimed at those who had completed the MS involving her.
Also, I hope its that lady who has been running the Ironworks in Cids absence. She amuses me.

Interestingly, if you have ninja either unlocked, or 50 (unsure which) Yugiri will mention during the main story for 2.4 (while you're tracking the traitor in the black shroud) that she can tell by your stance you've been practicing her art or some such like that.

And if you don't, she instead says something about how her offer to have the Doma train you in the ninja arts still stands (can't remember exactly what it was). So, they do have dialog that looks at where you are in various class/job/MSQ questlines already.

I don't know how it is in the Ninja story, but in the Rogue story Yugiri and Leviathan are mentioned only if the character did already the 2.2 story.
