Warrior Or Paladin But I'm going warrior.
I played a game where you could glamour tank gear onto mages. It didn't confuse anyone at all. The minute that guy in tank gear attacks you obviously know what class they are -.- it's a terrible excuse. New players won't be confused at all. Er may gerd that goi is wurring a heavy armors but he's using a staff and casting moogics IM SO CUNFuZZeLED- said no one ever
The fact alone we have no clue what Job that player is invalidates Yoshi's point.

At the very least, items that are merely recolored should not have this restriction. That pesky enemy ninja in the ninja storyline shows up at the end in a Hussar's Jackcoat, which is lnc/drg only depite just being a black version of the Fistfighter's Jacket (pug/mnk). Apparently it's okay for npc's to "rebel" against the fashion rules, just not us.

Well, that's dependent on whether the item to remove stats would be something like "toenail clips of Bahamut" that have a 0.00000001% chance of dropping or being brought in from retainer ventures. Then you'd see prices skyrocket.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

THIS. So ××××ing much this, thank you OP - it's been so damn blatant ever since...hell, ever since the betas where we saw mage gear labeled as "All classes" while DoW gear had class/job restrictions pretty much everywhere.... >.< reading that even during the live letter when it got translated made me frown so damn much, I mean honestly... what the actual fridge?? Really just one of those things that's blown my mind ages ago - not even from the perspective Yoshi presented (which is utter codswallop apparently, and frankly, besides false and dishonest, I also find insulting), but from the sheer fact that how many more options DoW classes/jobs have to glamour with the unrestricted mage gear, than vice versa.
So yeah, just... either give us the real reason or actually rethink the restrictions, heck, I wouldn't even mind if mage gear became restricted to...y'know...mage classes, just have some consistency, for Menphina's sake, because this neither-here-nor-there way as it is now is just plain ridiculous.
And while we're at it, kindly remove gender restrictions too, especially in gear pairs where one is restricted to females and the other is without restriction again... And no, thank you, I'm not interested in how difficult it would be - not asking for it to happen overnight, but do make it happen please.
I'd rather they shore up the restrictions personally. Being able to glamour holiday / event gear onto battle gear was a terrible descision to begin with.
Consistently restrict the system better rather than just open the flood gates even more as people are suggesting.

It's insulting that he underestimates players intelligence as an excuse for not having a certain feature in game.
Simply saying "that's not the image we want in our game" is good enough. Fine, we understand.
But saying that players will be SO confused is a slap in the face. Its safe to assume we played other mmorpgs and other offline RPGs.
