I don't think that's what he said. He was saying that all future minions would not become cash shop exclusive. People were worried that all future minions would just be cash shop items and there would be no free ones anymore, and he was stating that was not the case.
I am waiting on what is going to happen with gold saucer. If they continue with premium only crap I'm done. Already mentioned it to my friends and FC. I've already tried to spread the word about cash shop. People are willing to defend paying more for some reason and it's like you're talking to sheep. I COULD be defending not paying more but instead I'll defend paying MORE; cause that makes lots of sense right? I mean games like WoW have a cash shop, its normal! It's only becoming the norm cause sheep defend it! Well they said it's to help the game! Are you really that naive?

Cash shops mean easy money, but you can't have a cash shop without a game. The problem is then, how to finance the creation of the game in the first place? This can be achieved by means of subscriptions readily paid for by P2P enthusiasts. However, many of these would stop paying the moment a cash shop stocked with exclusive, tradeable items was introduced. So, how do you make the transition from P2P to F2P? The solution is a gradual process, best illustrated by the "Milked Subscriber" metaphor:
The premise is that if a P2P fan is placed in an F2P game, it will jump out, but if it is placed in a P2P game that is F2Ped slowly enough, it will not perceive the danger and will continue subscribing.
The P2P die-hards who suffer from déjà vu can be soothed for a while with reassuring statements that this is not the intention, but when it becomes too obvious even to the most optimistic, then face can still be saved by redefining what was meant by the original statements (any PR consultant should be able to help with this.)

You may want to contact Square Enix, seeing as your text box isn't the typical color staff of Square Enix seem to get whenever they post, seeing as you're an employee of SE and all in order to know this.
Items from Past Events = Items from 1.0 just like Legacy player items. It was stated as plain as day during beta, they're offering one chance for non 1.0 players to get those items on the first event rotation then taking them out of the game in terms of events offering it. If you noticed most event items in ARR came from 1.0, so Yoshida actually kept his word. Once you do the event and have the achievement you can get the items from Calamity Salvager, which Yoshida actually went back on his word, since CS originally was only there to give 1.0 players a chance to reclaim items due to inventory changes.Items from past events and items given to legacy 1.0 players are a separate issue entirely.
If you miss the event and items? Tough, go play an MMO that's been out since 2000-2010 for example and see if you still can get event items that took place in 2003. Let me know the results.
I'm curious - What raid content is in the cash shop? What armor set is in the cash shop that gives you an edge over other players in terms of progression? How does you buying from the cash shop make your character better than mine? What items from the cash shop allows you to level faster than me? I'll wait.n essence, the cash shop so far has been a far cry from what was advertised in the beginning
...
K I waited, it's not a far cry from the "no pay to win" model he stated. You getting vanity items like minions and a mount and wedding (which does nothing special in-game for you..btw no couple skills..no shared housing, no shared..anything like other MMOs with a wedding system) doesn't mean you "win" over someone who doesn't partake in it.

It's not because it's not Pay To Win that it's still a good thing... Not even talking of the overpricing Sleipnir ( a mount that the model was already in the game ) is worth 20 $ ? That's half a major patch, Sleipnir is worth 2 $, speaking of the metallic dye => push the RGB value of the gold/silver dye and put it in the cash shop, no not unlimited use silly, we are here to make even more money than ever even if it destroy the dreams of the players !K I waited, it's not a far cry from the "no pay to win" model he stated. Updated section on the housing furnishing disclaimer. Please look forward to it.

It's not worth $20. So don't buy it.
