If one person wants to pay, they should receive the bonus items, just not the fancy ceremony.
It's uncool to force both players to have to pay or one to forfeit their reward because the other doesn't want to pay.
C'mon SE! Fix this.

I hope you get a refund.
This is exactly what happen to me. You should still get the items you've paid for.
Agree with this. At least the person who buy gold/platinum can get all their items before ceremony (except the ring) but the ceremony itself follow the lesser one.
You BOTH got to pay, and if one doesn't, and one does, your money gets taken anyway? Oh lawd, this is stuff of genius.
How convenient that the premium versions don't include a pair of bracelets and that they're actually being sold individually and both need the exact same version of the bracelets to proc that specific wedding tier in the first place. Surely it wasn't done intentionally to catch people off guard and cause unfortunate situations such as these, where the buyer has to pay even more, surely it's just yet another misunderstanding like housing prices.
So here's a couple of questions.
Mount is supposed to be awarded upon quest completion. Do the people who paid get the mount upon completion if their partner opts for the free version? Do the dresses for the paid option get added in at that time as well? How about the guest gifts that are included in the paid version, do any/all guests still get those? Do just the 40 guests invited by the person who paid get them? Do the people getting married also get one of the guest gift minions, or do they have to attend someone else's wedding to get that?
SE: "It's time guys, we'll be starting the patch for 2.45. SEND OUT THE MONEY CHOMPERS!"
And that's called "theft". I hope is a bug or something and not a "working as intended"
I don't understand why they just didn't make it a one-off purchase for BOTH parties. That way either the groom OR the bride could pay for the bands and solve everyone's problems in one go. This whole downgrade thing can essentially make a platinum plan equal to a free one, and there's no refunds for either party.
I get that they might have wanted to split the costs amongst the two, but this was really a poor way to go about it.
