I guess we will have to see whether SE takes any action about this. The intention of these items being tradeable was simply so that your eternal bond partner wouldn't have to pay if they aren't able to. I don't think they intended that people buy these en masse and sell them for large amounts of gil (that's why they can't be listed on the Market Boards), but that's a side-effect of supporting the former scenario. If someone ends up "buying gil" this way, SE would definitely have a record of it (both from the purchase and the trade). It is conceivable that they could action accounts for it, if they consider it inappropriate. But I guess we'll see...

I think they most likely would have explicitly stated that this was something people should not do if that was the case. I'm guessing they just don't want to come out and say "yeah, this is legal RMT."

I don't see why you have such a problem with it. Personally, I think that "Pay-to-win" as you call it is a nice addition. Now I won't have to spend real money on cash shop stuff and can just buy stuff ingame with ingame currency. What's wrong with that?
And if you are worried about people making ingame money with real cash, just keep in mind that money won't let you win in this game. It basically worthless. It won't let you buy overpowered equip. It won't make beating T13 any easier either.

The person buying the item is paying in-game money for an in-game item.
The person selling the item legally obtained it from SE, and nowhere in the documentation is it said they cannot trade/sell it.

I can't imagine SE didn't foresee this as a possibility. I imagine they are totally okay with this, as each bracelet purchased is another $20 in the bank.

Penta-melded 110 definitely gives an advantage when first venturing into final coil. It can even be argued that a few pieces are BiS (looking at you Bard coat). When crafted 110 accessories become available they'll certainly be BiS for tanks. It's not just end-game content. Leveling a craft but can't afford materials? Cha-Ching. Need materia for that Novus? Bling-bling. Not to mention the effects on the market when gil is easily obtainable in such a fashion. Fat cats costing 50 mil? No problemo. Let me just hit up the cash shop and do some wheeling and dealing.

It's very clever on SEs part.

They can't sell gill without killing the economy, so they add an item people can trade for gill cutting into the RMT profits.

It's no more pay to win than it was before though, people always had the option of increasing their Gil by paying an RMT.

I've always considered pay 2 win games to be ones which sell better gear in the shop than you can get in game, that's just me though

If players are going to buy Gil, may as well sell it yourself, right?
I was wondering when they were going to start offering tradeables.

Its the perfect anti RMT move. RMT thrives because people feel they have no alternative to get gil.
Now a player who would pay 10 dollars to an RMT company only to get hacked will instead pay whatever the price for the cash shop stuff and sell that for Gil. Its a good move on SEs part. Profit and brings the hammer down on RMT in one move that also benefits players.

You can use the money made from selling the bracelets to buy crafted+melded gear, or materia for your Novus, which gives an advantage in clearing coil.
Then Extra retainers are PTW since they are much more effective means of getting more gil

In before players banned for receiving RMT Gil for their bracelet.

I can't clear Coil but, I have the money to buy Cash Shop items to trade to people in game for Gil. My Gil count rises enough so that I can pay a 7/8 static to carry me through Coil and get me a win/items. I paid for the win, with Gil obtained by paying real money for an ingame item.

That's just one example.... Eventually I suppose I could run out of people willing to get married but for now, if I were really to do this I could presumably make lots and lots of Gil by spending real money on these items.
