Lots of shipped HDDs are broken on arrival (DOA would be simpler). Especially Samsung had problems with whole charges of HDDs that didn't operate correctly. My 2TB Samsung HDD disabled itself after ~20h usage xD
But a friend had a SSD that was "half dead" as half of the disk was unaccessible(caused read/write errors).
Maybe you should run checkdisk or use a SMART tool.

Me and my wife have been having almost exactly the same issue. For us it started the day before the patch though so I can't blame the patch for it really. Today I'm logged in fine but my wife's character constantly disconnects, at other times it affects both of us.

I have also noticed that messing with the game config in some way can fix the problem. This doesn't always work.

I've contacted our ISP (also Virgin Media) who say that they can see no problems with our connection.

After reading your post about logging into other characters we tried it, and what do you know.. the connection is fine on the new character.

I am having this problem as well. At worst, I get disconnected within seconds of logging in to a character. Disconnected. Log back in, absolutely horrible lag, and within minutes another disconnect. Same error code, 30002. This didn't start until after the patch, and nothing else on my computer has changed. This has to be a game issue.

Temp fix for you maybe... try this

Change area and then log out.

Adjust something in the FFXIV config file and save. (can change it back and save again)

Log back in.

I know that the same problem will happen to day at around 5pm GMT if it does not then it is fixed....need somebody from SE to reply to this and maybe take a look into it as i feel there are a few problems....we all can't keep changing areas and logging in and out every time this happens it is silly. What Sev did on my PC worked but it is only a temp fix.

I am constantly getting booted as well. Always this error, and then I am told, after a while of trying to get back in, that "final fantasy has stopped working" or what not. I am nooo computer savvy gal, I can guarantee you that. I just want to play a fun online, pretty final fantasy game. But these errors are making it very hard to enjoy. x-x

I sincerely hope the maintenance team can figure out the problem soon. ;-;

I think it's when you go into a new 'area' in a zone. I am just starting to get this too, 3 times i logged back in and attempted to walk over the invisible line to a new area in the zone and dc'd within seconds, the final time i logged back in and walked the other way and it was fine lol

but but.. if it's HDD error, why my other Online game such as WoW, RO, and other MMORPG still able to function well and not DC? this is BLASPHEMY ARKINE!
