Does Square Enix not have anything to say in regards to this thread?

2.41 was a kick in the teeth as it has actually WORSENED the lag spikes I am getting to the point that the game client does not know if it wants to 90k and I lose hard earned experience points, or hang until 30 or 40 seconds later.

I sent an in-game bug report to SE, I hope everyone who replied to this thread has to.

My sub gets cancelled if this is not fixed or responded to TODAY! /angry

Well, the horrific lag is back, or at least limitedly. In Syrcus Tower as we speak and the entire alliance is experiencing 10~15 seconds bits of lag/stops and people are being 90k'd left and right. Its unplayable.

Going to wait it out and see if its consistent or just a blip.

Looks like Adamantoise just crashed again...everyone started lagging, then dc'ing, then I also was 90k'd....this has to be the highest priority for SE to fix, or I hate to think what will happen to this game...

Almost feel bad for those IT guys in the server cages always on call having to fix their servers......they should just do it properly the first time though and avoid all this crap. A little bummed for not seeing anything from SE since I started playing on this issue.

I'm still getting the 3 -10 second lag jumps all around me where a player stops and reappears in another location. I HAVE DONE THE WORKS on this PC to ensure it wasn't coming from my rig.
    1) run Disk Clean up & Disk Frag
    2) Make sure all my Drivers are up to date
    3) memtest, pingtest, etc
    4) Bought a brand new router
    5) Reinstall my OS and every driver to an up to date status
    6) Cussed out Time Warner Cable ( got a new modem & free internet upgrade for 6 months)
    7) reinstalled XIV

After doing all that work, I still end up in the beginning where it started. Players stop for a few secs and reappear somewhere else in a different position.

I have never had this happen to me since the game was released until now. I am at a lose of words in what to do at this point.

Not your fault. Last night there was a DDoS attack on the servers.

Is this DDoS attack most likely the issue of my problem? For the past 10-15 days it been going on.

Considering malicious activity has been on the rise nearly every single day since Labor Day, and DDoS attacks have been steadily increasing since last winter... there may be something to that effect going on. (not just spitballing there... click those links and explore the data)

Have to keep in mind that a DDoS is a flooding of someone's server/network. This can also impact multiple nodes along the various paths to those networks. It's a Distributed Denial of Service attack---tons of clients hammering one network continuously to the point that it over-saturates and can no longer accept/maintain sessions, thus denying access.

So it doesn't necessarily need to be an attack on the service you are trying to get to. It could be an attack on someone in New York/New Jersey. That area contains half of the paths we take to get to Montreal. And that's not just Level3's segments either--that includes Cogent and TATA as well (those are the three primary top tier ISP's that route us there from the US as well as some other countries). If just even ONE of their exchanges gets overloaded, it can impact up to roughly 14% of all connections to Montreal. Imagine if it's an attack impacting Level3's path through just Albany, NY. That could potentially cut off a big chunk of users from Europe that could be getting routed through there. Or if it was Seattle, WA or one of the major hubs in Southern California, it could cut off a chunk of users from the Pacific Ocean--including Japan. And that's just one area of ONE provider. You could play out similar situations for the other two majors as well:

    TATA's Network map

    Cogent's Network Map

This doesn't have to apply to JUST a DDoS attack either. Just normal states of elevated congestion can create issues along any one of the handful of paths we have to take to get to Montreal. The same could potentially apply to anywhere in the world. That congestion keeps spiking because the last mile ISP's are not arranging for enough bandwidth at the exchange points to these peering/transit partners networks. Basically, they've been overselling bandwidth to us for YEARS without upgrading their connections to the higher tiered networks. Look closely at the language used for your service---it will have a disclaimer to the effect that you will get up to XXmbit speed within their own networks. There is in no way any kind of guarantee that you get all that high speed beyond their networks for a reason---they know they can't provide it consistently because they haven't made arrangements to support it on a larger scale.

ive done the same my friend. im still having very annoying lag spikes/rubberbanding. it has become an issue now because i am unable to enjoy this game. it would seem its only at certain times. i understand theres like peak hours etc. but i have been playing the game ever since day one. never ever had an issue with any of this. i have talked to my isp. i have changed modems. i have done just about anything i can on my end. it really hasnt helped at all. im just very curious as to what may be causing this. i understand the ddos attacks are constant but i mean if my isp cant fix it, and SE isnt doing much about it, is my only solution to this problem to just stop playing?
