    You have made enough money to move the NA/EU servers

    Seriously. This game cannot be called anything other than a success at this point. You claim to have over 2.5 million players which would make it an overwhelming success for a subscription MMO in a world filled with free-to-play MMOs and World of Warcraft.

    It's time that you move the NA/EU servers out of Montreal, Canada. We realize you originally placed them there because that's where Eidos Montreal is located and it was easy to put them where your company has their large North American studio and share resources. In terms of cost management, I'm sure it was very successful.

    However in terms of connectivity to the Internet required for a real-time game which depends on high percentage uptime and ability for players to maintain consistent connections, Montreal is a disaster. It does not work. This game has the most lag and disconnects of any subscription MMO I have ever played, and after more than a year of operation it needs to be more stable than it is.

    We already know you have plans to move the EU datacenter to Europe proper, as announced at the London Fanfest. When those servers are evacuated, you need to move the NA datacenter to a location with better connection to the Internet at large. Many other MMOs locate servers in Chicago if they only operate one datacenter. Large MMOs like WoW operate multiple datacenters in the continental United States in other cities with a high concentration of core routers.

    It's been a year now. You've made a ton of money from us. Please make the game more accessible to your loyal players and move the NA datacenter out of Montreal. Thank you.

    I'm probably going to end up moving to Mateus if the EU Data center is moved to EU, since I have horrid pings to EU usually from the USA. The NA Data Center should be in the middle of the united states somewhere I'll be honest and not on west or east, I mean Center like, Texas or anywhere in the middle of the USA that isn't on a coast.

    I would put the NA servers in Calafornia, and the EU servers in London at SEs offices. Internet is much more reliable in CA.

    I get the same ping to the JP servers as I do to Montreal, except I can always reach them. Bring it on.

    I agree 100% with the OP. I registered on the forums just to support this thread. Multiple regional datacenters are needed within the US. SquareEnix cannot fix problems at Level3. SE can make Level3's problems irrelevant by providing local servers to the largest portions of its userbase. Problems like this CANNOT continue for a subscription service.

    And in the other hand, it's the opposite for me, just as an example. I play from Europe and I have no distance lag at all. I can dodge everything perfectly without latency screwing my gameplay. And this is something I never had the privilegdge before. Even routing to Germany (most EU games are hosted in Frankfurt) gave me 200+ ping on EU games. Playing on their NA versions was never an option for me (usually 500+ ping and terribly unstable) with seconds delay. This game has the best connection I've ever experienced in years since I started playing MMOs. I repeat myself, I was never able to play NA version of games until FF14.

    I'll lend my support to this.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:

    I would like to point out that this evening's accessibility problems were in all likelyhood a DDOS attack, and as such has absolutely nothing to do with where the datacenters are actually located and everything to do with the fact that whoever was attacking the facility where the datacenters are housed, WANTED us to not be able to access the game, or any other service that is housed in that facility.

    Please keep in mind that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborns North American and EU servers are not the only service being cared for at the Montreal servers. There are other services that operate out of that site as well.

    Also keep in mind that even if the servers were located in California, or Japan, or anywhere else, they would still be just as vulnerable to DDOS attacks as they would be anywhere else in the world. So please don't take this out on Square-Enix until it is proved that it is in fact Square-Enix's fault.

    Further, servers located in Japan are vulnerable to earthquakes, tidal waves, and what have you. Just as servers located in California are vulnerable to frequent earthquakes, and wildfires. The worst natural disaster Montreal has to deal with are blizzards and the exceedingly rare earthquake, (the last one I was able to find was recorded in 1732).

    If this is a "make a wish" thread, I'd like them moved under my roof, with a cable directly attached their switches.
