I just don't think movie theaters should stop selling popcorn because there are people who like to throw with food. There is a bigger group who has manners and appreciates nice things. There will always be harassment no matter what, let's not hurt the bigger group though.

Personally I don't care if someone uses a parser and I have a feeling most of the community doesn't care either. As long as you don't flaunt it or harass other players about their numbers you're fine. The only question I have about this is if your friend is so worried about being banned for using a parser why are they using it to begin with? Any third party (unofficial) software used carries risk of suspension or termination of an account but if you play it safe your chances are much lower. But at the same time being overly paranoid and worried about it begs the question of why not just avoid using it altogether?

As for videos being set on private I believe anyone can view it given they have access to the link, you cannot set special privileges for only specific users. So if the link is ever shared with a friend and that friend shares it with a friend then it can be shared with others and so on. Correct me if I'm wrong on this since I've never set a video to private but generally I've always been told to not share a link with someone else and I've been able to view it even when I'm not logged into my account. As long as you have the link, you can view it.

Personally I don't care if you do or don't. Post on Youtube all you want. But if someone then post that onto the official forums then the ban stick should come down. Why this is the official forums and it's against the TOS.

Official forums post shouldn't promote act against TOS. So if you post on Youtube and someone then links your post to the official forums yes you should get banned, why it's against the TOS. It break the 1st rule of breaking rules don't let anyone know you broke the rules.
Also it's a slap in the face of all the PS3, PS4 and PC people that don't use these tools. Why because it's cheating and it lowers the quality of the game.


As for doing, yes do it but don't record it, don't post it.

If SE doesn't take action agaist it that's their call but as the gap increases where PC users are all expected to use these tool to clear content it will kill off the PS3/PS4 users. Why because they will not be able to do it.

Other side of the coin, is if yoshi P known it happen, Include it in the game. with 100% accurate info. Even if it was your personal numbers only.

What kind of advantage could it really give? Have never used it myself but... Doesn't parsers just display DPS numbers? It could surely help you improve yourself with your classes, but... You say it like if you'd deal more damage by having it, thus PS3-4 users having disadvantage?...

For measuring DPS and improve there's also some funny things we can punch in the gardens of our houses...

I don't look at my friend with bad eyes after knowing he uses a parser, because it means he perhaps cares about improving his own performance more than others, (we went to a few dungeons both DPS and he didn't tell me anything about my numbers neither). I guess someone using that kind of things cares a bit more about the damage and doesn't play so relaxed-lazy.... What's not so bad for the other members of the party, to be honest.

Parser programs also have other plugins / features that for example read the battle log and play an alarm sound when a boss uses certain mechanic. It's definitely an advantage. You can notice some players and groups using these features when you watch their kill videos. Of course not all people who parse use these other features.

The same line in the ToS that "bans" parsers also covers recording software so watch out with those videos!

One thing if top FCs use them for within FC runs but I do think it's a good idea that parser use and the like be discouraged in general.

Experience in WoW tells me that widespread parser use results not only in players heckling and harassing people over their by the numbers performance, it's also likely to produce bad behaviour in DPS. "Meter maids" simply encourage there to be all too many DPS that a) doesn't pay attention to hate (gee, thanks for making tanks' jobs harder, when we ALREADY usually have a tank shortage in virtually every MMO), and b) fails to pay attention to battle circumstances because they don't pay attention due to tunnel vision focus on numbers (yay, extra wipes because people stood in fire they didn't pay attention to ... makes every raider's day, doesn't it?)

So yeah, much as I loved the add on system in WoW in general, I'm going to say FFXIV, and most MMOs, are better off without having active support for parsing.

If SE can't have a proper task force to investigate and get rid of the bot colony, I highly doubt they are going to hire someone to scour youtube videos in hopes of finding users with parsers.
