I don’t understand why some people on this game have to have such bad attitudes towards another players skill level. You want to be a hardcore player and that’s good for you and all but not everyone has the time or ability to study a video guide to ensure they run it properly and many people learn about their class by attempting things casual or not. Have some time and patience for the newer or casual gamer who is attempting something for the first time.

Separating the hardcore gamers and casuals in such a way will do nothing but result in a sort of community divide on severs (and some of the elitists FC’s and players are bad enough). Which would be terrible especially on a server like mine. There is a saying: Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime. It doesn’t cost you the Earth in time to help a fellow player succeed in an instance that they have never run before. Advice from more experience players is extremely valuable regardless of your stage in the game. How can you expect casual players to get any better when no one will help them?

But oh wait, let me guess that you were never a ‘noob’ and you’ve always known how to run every instance the second it was implement and knew all of your class mechanics for lvl 50 when you were still level 1. I bet no one had to “hold your hand” cause you were super special awesome.

Don’t be stupid. Everyone on this game is a paying customer and we all deserve to be held in equal standing regardless of your ability and skill.

I thought of the class / job separation because I think just because someone is not a pro they should still be able to play FFXIV and have fun. Why you guys call me an elitist or crazy? If I were an elitist I would simply want the game to be harder so less skilled ppl can't even play it, like FFXI was long time ago.
FFXIV is a video game. Until Coil speed runs become and eSport, no one is "pro". You're being called an elitist because that is what you are. You think a game mechanic should be used to separate yourself from those you deem lower skilled than you. Ilvls requirements on content is good enough to ensure people are ready to handle it. I'm sorry is you quest for loot is hampered because you wipe a few times on bosses, you would have never survived any pre WoW MMO.

On a second thought, actually OP's not a bad idea. Please do continue and implement the idea,SE. I would love to study how much of a great game this would turn out to be trying to cater to one exclusive group of customers as much as possible while shunning out the other majority at every turn. It would certainly serve as a good case example in future game's debate about "filthy casual" and "harcore l337". I said future because at the same time I can't be sure if this game would still have enough subs to function by that time :P

So much this! I know most don't mind the FATE grind, but I find it extremely boring... Wish there was more of an incentive for low lvl dungeons as this (to me anyway) would be a much more enjoyable way of leveling, and for OP's point would force people to learn their class.

I do disagree with the separation of Jobs & classes though.

I'm French and I understand your language, even if I'm not as fluent as you and I can make mistakes (sorry)^^

I think OP idea is not the good answer. But SE could use some tools that already are IG to teach the gamers how to play better their jobs. Guildhests for instance could be a mandatory step to unlock each job quest : you can't do the level 35 jobquest if you haven't done all guildhests up to 35. Guildhests are supposed to teach you how to play with 3 and later 7 players, it could be a good way to increase the understanding of fight mechanics different than dungeons.
I've a SCH I don't play well, because for this particular job I only had to do 5 jobquests : with mandatory guildhests, no other choice, you have to play your job in a party at least 5 times. Even if you only do fates for xp, you would have there mandatory steps.

In some way this topic reminds me of a white mage recently having a fit because I was using a lvl 34 thaumaturge in a dungeon. Rather than having swapped to black mage yet. Oh how funny it was to see that he couldn't keep the tank alive, kept on dying himself, kept dropping the tank and ultimately I ended up healing more overall in the dungeon than him by cure spamming as cross-class skill.

But yet prior to exiting the dungeon he insisted on letting me know that I'd do good in learning to play by switching to black mage.

Thing is, I like to play serious on an endgame level. And just like many others I want to get the weekly chores out of the way rapidly. Low level dungeons though are just a form of complete relaxation. The classes I play with are classes I tend to not care about the slightest. As such, they're missing quest specific skills, they're often missing jobs, and gear wise they're far from optimal either.

And you know what TS. I don't care if that may slow down your super serious hardcore low level dungeon experience. I consider it the most irrelevant location in the game to put up a hardcore attitude.

Just like the OP I love that you need to know the hand signs and can't just macro it in. Sure it's a bit more space on my hot/cross bars but the button mashers get bunny rabbits while the person who knows when to hit the right symbol gets it done.

To the question of making job quests harder and class quests easier, I personally would love there to be more job and class quests that puts you in situations where you need to use your abilities. Take MDR or GLA for example, rather than having the main NPC cure you while they also hold the main guy, put them in a tanking situation with an AI party like environment where you need to hold hate, if they can't finish because they're not using flash they'll learn and the aggravation will be on themselves and not transferred to a party in DF.

I won't argue with some of you guys cause I understand that some of the hatered towards me actually against real elitist.

Last night I wiped 2 times in Thornmarch because even after explaining the strategy to them some of the new players made few mistakes, but by 3rd we completed it, I didn't yelled at them because I'm not an idiot or elitist like some of you think but like I said I understand that some of you had really bad experiences with ppl like that and thats why I get so many hate here.

Anyways forums are for ppl to share your ideas or your opinion. I thank those who told us their point of view, everyones voice should be heard. Those who simply use me as a point of hatered, I don't really care.

if it was me... the content will not be for casual or hardcore gamer! they are extreme...
i found it sad that the gaming industry simply try to satisfy the extreme of the playerbase... when it often easier to simply do a game for the player!

Yes.. let's all go jump in dungeons and see only 4-8 people at a time, so much fun. Oh, here's that "95% of the players are stupid" comment again.
