Suggestion: Allow people to fertilize any plant at anyone's house and reward them

I don't understand why this is restricted in the first place.

"OMG! This evil person came along and made my crops grow faster!"

    Yeah, right.

Make an achievement for it. Call it "Mass acts of fertility" I/II/III/IV and give titles like "Fertilizing fairy" up to "Ultimate Karmic Gardener" to people that fertilize/tend like 100000 plants not in their own gardens. Maybe give out a minion that is a bag of fertilizer with arms, Etc.

Also perhaps make a new fertilizer that can only be used on others gardens that speeds up growing by 2 hours instead of 1 with a shorter cooldown.

In my opinion there need to be more opportunities for altruistic behavior in the game and this seems to be a huge opportunity for it.

I second this. OMG, teaching people to be kind to others? UNHEARD of LOL but seriously I love the bag of fertilizer idea. like the broom.

You will be unable to determine when your plants will be ready to harvest.
Sometimes you may also want to fertilize some crops only and don't touch others

Fertilizing someone else's plants is helping the same way that a 6 year old pouring something from a bottle into the washing machine is helping with laundry.

It could be a good idea, but as said by others, sometimes people need/like to controle which plant is fertilized in order to optimize the crossing (don't fertilize the hard to produce one and fertilize a lot the other to do multiple crossing with one set).
They could also messed up the "synchronisation" of harvesting. For example, only plot 1 is fertilize, then it could be harvested 1 day before the other, messing up future crossing.

A solution to that could be an option to open/close access to "public fertilizing" (same as opening visit to house/room)

OMG, such anger over getting public assistance.

So, let me get this straight, you would rather wait longer than have empty patches earlier?

Let's say you do it your way. Only fertilizing half the patches. So your garden is ready for half harvesting in 2 days and full harvesting in 4 days.

Now along comes a mob of helpful fertilizers and your garden is ready for half harvesting in 1 day and full harvesting in 2 days.

Explain to me how waiting an extra 2 days is a bad thing? Stop looking gift chocobos in the beak.

I see where you're coming from, but I think it's more for the fact that you have no control over which plants will get fertilized by a stranger who has no stakes in your garden. Someone could just come along and fertilize one, or half the patch. From previous posts, it sounds like they want to keep adjacent seeds in place as long as possible for cross-breeding, and cutting down the duration would ruin their system. (I'm not so knowledgable, so I hope I'm not messing up what they're saying.)

I can see your idea working if it was just left to tending someone else's garden. I know what you mean about doing something nice for your neighbors, though. I always wanted a drop box that as a neighbor I could leave food, or some kind of gift, without having to be friends with them first in order to send a message. I noticed that placards have a box on them, and I just wish I could place something in there.

Yes, it would. Because the existing system runs on the idea that some plants take much longer than others. Perhaps it's time to fix that as well.

Or, simply make "karmic gardening" apply equally to all plants in a garden so it cannot be used as grief. And perhaps make it apply equally by percentage to all plants in the garden so it wouldn't mess up anyone's "special system". :P

There are a myriad of ways to make something like this work, and yet what we have here is focus being put on how it would screw up existing systems rather than talk of making a much better system.

If we're "fixing" the system why not take out any random chance, the need to tend/harvest, the need for soil and seeds, etc?

Karmic gardening doesn't help, since sometimes you want only half your seeds fertilized. It's my garden, I have it planned out, and I don't want people screwing with it.
