100,000 needles... Ok, how many times you wipe before figuring out.

Got it on the second try. Healer told us what to focus although even though we were told what to do on the first try we somehow still let the mob get to 100,000 needles and wipe. Out of the 3, I think Sastasha was the hardest. That final fight had us stumped when we first did it. I went with people in my FC after though and eventually worked it out!

I did fine on all the other bosses. I have no idea why but my group died like 4 times before we cleared the Qarn end boss. >_>

I was running around healing the tank and dps... Felt like a nanny looking after 3 kids in a room full of weapons.

Damage boss for Sastasha 2nd boss, kill add(s) for Catuar boss in Qarn.

OR.... just burn everything again.

Cactuar 100k needles is like Pomflare; a fixed amount of damage (or hits) will interrupt the cast. The adds have nothing to do with it except for the last "large" Guardian Cactuar which uses Cover on the boss. You need to zerg the Guardian to remove the Cover effect so you can damage the boss and thus interrupt.

So some of these replies say kill adds and some say damage boss, which one is it?

When the boss is casting 100,000 needles you have to damage her enough in order to stop the casting. The second giant cactuar will cast cover on the boss, preventing you from interrupting her until after he is dealt with. If your party is using AoE with a Black Mage, then you probably face rolled over the content.

Initially my party thought we needed to kill the adds before she finishes the cast, but that means killing 4 minor adds and a major add in around 10 seconds. While possible for certain groups, it definitely isn't possible for item level 90, which is the difficulty the dungeon is supposed to be at. I realized that when she first starts to cast it, she will always get interrupted, but I thought that the tank was stunning her or something, it wasn't until I stopped focusing on the adds that I noticed that my damage was interrupting her.

Cleared all 3 with only one mistaken wipe on Fenrir (didn't know to hide behind the pillar, wiped us on first Lunar Howl).

Not entirely sure I understand the mechanics behind Captain Madison and the Giant Squid, though. Madison was stacking a whole lot of damage by the end and the Squid Fight rand pretty long.

I ran Qarn (Hard) for the first time last night 9 EST. The tank was noticeably irritated when the rest of the group announced that this was their first run. Freakin' hilarious. One-shotted everything and moved on with the usual "thanks". Tank says "yup". On my first runs through the new dungeons, the only bosses that seemed to give us any trouble was the second boss in Satasha (Madison?) and the second boss in Snowcloak (the Yeti). Madison was only hard because of how hard his gun starts to hit and he kept wiping out our healer. On the yeti, we wiped a couple of times because I (the tank) didn't catch the snowball mechanic right away. Madison seems like the toughest boss to me.

Yeah we had a lancer leave after wiping twice on the Yeti boss. He never said anything (the other 3 of us at least said hi at the beginning) and just stood behind the boss stabbing away (he didn't even help kill the big add that spawns or anything). Even on the first day new dungeons come out, some people still want a fast, error-free, run without putting in any effort to help the group.

Which I don't get in the slightest. Running a dungeon fresh with other first-timers is the single most enjoyable thing this game has to offer. Had a blast figuring out mechanics. I thought I was being clever when I suggested keeping one of the add's alive during the Capn' Madison fight to wash the target off on ala Brayflox. Didn't work of course, but it was fun trying it out. Even if it was a wipe of epic proportions.
