lol you mean the weird yellow line? i been seeing that from FFXI also i dislike it so much at least i see it less in ffxiv.

In ffxi i found out that the yellow line on the floor was each part of the zone box so let's say you going from A30 to A31 you see the line right there. That how when looking for something within a small box zone in the area i know when am going to go to other part of the map by seeing the yellow line i wonder what it mean in ffxiv tho.

No, what I mean is the invisible drawing border between high quality (foreground) and low quality (background). Especially the texture detail changes drastically at that line (with mipmaps it wouldn't be as noticable).

part of it is your connection in crowded areas too i got a stronger connection and it helped out in the croweded areas since my pc is about as strong as you can get it had to be that..

They should just implement tesselation and use it to scale the detail of everything. The game would be able to run much smoother on DX11-capable systems. think the just want to show there art for what it is without the graphic tricks and that ugly line you dont see on max settings which is most likely there "default" setting. plenty of room for them to use a GPU since the games is dependent on the CPU speed.

The game doesn't use modern CPUs much. Most GPUs get used 100% though especially with many players on screen. This and the bad loading mechanism is what most people experience as "lag" (even though they mean fps-drops/stuttering). Connection doesn't have anything to do with this since ffxiv never uses more than 5kb/s up and down. A bad connection though would break any mmo(packet loss, resend). Until now the game doesn't even have any setting to reduce model details. Only resolutions can be changed and some features turned off.

hi guys was working for the last 6 hours hence the late reply lol

thanks for all the suggestions, i have thought of getting a gtx 460 before but to be honest i would like to plan ahead a little and hopefully get one of the 500 range (perhaps the gtx 580:P)

i wasnt sure that vsync was helping or not but il go without from now on and ive heard of gamebooster so il give it a go too. It's good to know that most people agree that the dev team need to focus on optimization a lot more but i also agree that bringing new content periodically is a must.

Also what would be the best setting to put your nvidia card at?

Like in the control panel for the nvidia card? texture filtering and so on am so lost with nvidia i only been playing around with it for 2days seeing how i got my card few days ago.
I deactivate Vsync from Nvidia control panel and set "single display performance mode"

    After this

    1920x1080P (windowed)
    4XMSAA
    General Drawing 8-9
    background drawing 5
    Shadow Highest
    Ambient Occlusion
    Depht of field
    Texture quality: High
    Texture Filtering: Highest

You can probably use MSAA 4x 8x
    Your resolution
    General Drawing 8
    Background 5
    Shadow: High
    NO ambient occlusion
    Depht of field (try)
    Textures quality:High
    Textures filtering: High/Highest

Vsync can help you if you have continue FPS drop

pay attention moving from GTX 460 to 580 (check your PSU)
