Because people don't have a problem with the cash shop and agreeing with you means we are with Squenix all of a sudden? Seriously, how hard is it to simply just state "People disagree with me, that's their right and that's it"?
@ Nominous.
1) The OP is about taking out a festival npc that sold all the past items for gil. (Not the calamity vendor) and is now going to be on the cash shop.
2) Going into the anti cash shop thing. Everything going into the cash shop should be obtainable in the game just as everything has been in the past. People didn't have to ask to pay more, they could have asked to put it in the game. Now you will pay for pixels you don't truly own on top of things we don't truly own. I understand people get enjoyment out of looking cool. I do too. however, again, it didn't have to go to a cash shop. It isn't necessary. They could sell things that are tangible I can take the bathroom with and hold in my hands if they want extra revenue.Actually they sell playarts figures for $100 a pop I sometimes buy. They do have extra revenue.
I actually have no qualms with additional services being sold so your comparisons are off. If they sold echo or coil gear, exp boosters and the likes it wouldn't add anything that someone who doesn't buy them cannot obtain, just like I have no problems with fantasia or server transfer. It is not exclusive, additional game content.
If my phone company decided that certain numbers would not be included in my fee, or my isp started charging me extra to watch a youtube video, I'd change company.
I agree........ ><
yje worst, it's while the beta we had this debat over and over and over... but now we have this.
Yes, people obviously disagree with me especially when I say they could save some extra cash if they voice it, but nope go ahead and let go of your dollars. It is your money. Not mine. Let's see how far they can push it.

I'd rather buy a cheeseburger
Thanks so much for response. There's a lot of great conversations going on in here. Great points from both sides. I have my opinions about the cash shop, but I think it's really naive to think that this sort of poor business practice is going to stop here. WoW said vanity only, they sell in game buffs now. Tera said vanity, they sell buffs to increase drop rates. GW2 said no game breaking mechanics and last I saw they shifted much of their development to cash shop items.
This happens time and time again. If you don't care or don't think this will affect you, please take a moment to look at what has happened in the past. This will not be any different unless we stand together as a community and draw the line.
I have a feeling they'll sell exp boosters eventually. You can already get them via refer a friend or CE.
You're missing the point, almost entirely. You keep using the word 'should'. Notice I never disagree with that sentiment. In a more perfect world, all expansions would be free, and all extra content for console games wouldn't be stripped and sold for DLC. Costumes would be available in-game like we used to get with cheat codes. However, Cash Shops and exclusive add-ons have proven themselves as profitable. The vocal minority (that's you) are going to speak out against it.
Also, the Festival npc sold past items for events that you've already done (I'm almost positive). When the Moonfire Faire came around, they had the past year's swimwear available for me, I'd already done it though. I missed the winter event, and the Halloween event from last year though, and those weren't sold at the vendor in question.
