Ahem... Neptune is well able to handle this, but allow me to point out what he has too much class to spell out FOR you. You CAN'T condescend to Neptune. No, the comparison is perfect because a Conjurer didn't choose to be a WHM.

You don't have to be a conjurer all your life. You can just change classes or find another game. Sex and Race are real life pieces of a persons identity and shouldn't be trivialized by comparing them to a piece of comparatively shallow entertainment that doesn't even need to be played.

Who knows, maybe the Black Mage job will have what nukes want. That will be something to keep an eye on.

I'm surprised that your understanding has really changed from beyond my OP. I can't remember if I put an emphasis on black magic in the OP though. Yes, you're right. It's like a few people have noticed, healers are in short supply, and when that's the case instead of doing my job now all of a sudden I'm a white mage. Before Thaumaturge could also heal, widening the playing field. As I explained before, the quadruple MP cost of healing magic to black magic means MP is too precious to use for damage. It upsets the balance of MP management. I could blow through two or three hundred MP in 2 minutes dealing damage and battle regimening.. but if something goes wrong that could be the difference between life and death since that's only 2 cures.

It's good to come to an understanding with a fellow player.

B.) Ah, there we go. Yes, that's what gets me as well. Before it was nice that we also had a ranged attack that wasn't set on a 10 second timer, we could just as easily also deal damage from the sidelines, albeit small amounts, it was still doing a lot more help than sitting in the back carefully managing our MP pool. That's just not fun.
And exactly, the cost of elemental magic hasn't been tampered with THANKFULLY, but it still boils down to 200 mp is /just/ barely enough for an emergency Curaga II, and maybe a Cure and a Curaga if halved.
I feel like others also expect miracles from healers.

On a slightly different note let me go off what you're saying for just a moment about DDing conjurers.

The weather of a battle, particularly boss battles, can change from decent to horrible in a matter of seconds, sometimes shit happens, and there just isn't enough time to Spiritbind + Curaga. There's more than MP at stake too, it's the time between actions, since anything could happen in that split second between starting and ending a cure. Like the tank dying. If the timer is down, or the healer has to make that judgement call on whether or not to use the spell without halving the MP cost, you can't say they're not paying attention or haven't been.

So it's rather insulting for (not Gramul I'm saying) other players to tell us to suck it up and manage our MP better.

Back on the topic of DD'ing.
Even if I was only doing 50-100 damage per spirit dart, at least pre-patch I was given something to do between battles. Saying we shouldn't have that luxury because it makes us OP is a bit disheartening. I wasn't aware that our place was in the back doing damage control on the sometimes crappy tank and communication between those actually fighting and playing the game.

It's something I'd like to join in on as well. With the addition of higher MP costs for cures, and one class as the main healer, it's never been a better time content wise to be a conjurer, yet worse if you ever thought you'd have some fun and participate in the actual slaying.

Ok - I'm sorry. I didn't mean you are literally saying that.
But just because I choose to be CON doesn't mean I should be called names or told I've been put in my place. It's similar (in nature) to saying "You don't feel you're treated fair as a black man in USA? Move to Africa." Similar, certainly not the same and I didn't mean you yourself were literally saying it.

CON was born with Fire and Flare and Burn and Rasp.
It came to 1.18 and was told "We know you can do lots of things, but too fucking bad."
Similar to black slaves - maybe they were powerful and popular in their native land, too bad.
See? I know there's a distinct and vastly less important difference. I'm just drawing analogies.

The reason I'm even doing it at all is because people think it's fine and fair to say "CON should stay in the back, resting for MP and not playing or helping in anyway - like it was designed to!" They say it as if its not offensive or ignorant or intolerant of others feelings or play-styles in any way. First of all, it was in fact designed to be whatever I wanted it to be - be that nuker, tank, support, or strict healer. Now, it's been forced into slave labor because no one will want a CON in the party for anything other than what it's EXTREMELY good at (and that they have no alternative because they can't count on THM for heals or raises in a pinch).

So I hope this clears it up for you. I totally realize they aren't the same thing. I'm only taking what people have said about the CON change and drawing parallels to real life and what clearly everyone can agree on is ignorant and offensive to illustrate just how rude people are being to those of us who don't like CON the way it is now and don't have any other job like the one we were playing 2 days ago (that we liked) to fall back on.

I think I understand where you're coming from. You feel that the job you originally signed up for and enjoyed has become restrictive. The gameplay style you had fun with has shifted to take a more set role as a healer instead of the unique class you where led to believe it would always be.
