Given that FFXIV uses a true RNG system it is entirely possible for someone to do 1000 fates with a 1% drop chance and still never see even 1 atma. It's unlikely but it IS possible. For you to call people lazy when they may have cleared 10x more fates than you ever did and just got unlucky makes you look incredibly moronic.

Obviously nobody knows - but I'd say the previous rate was more likely than not 5%. I'd say if you're consistently moving - you probably can knock out 10 fates per hour (6 minutes per fate - also need to factor in waiting on fates to spawn when they are all knocked out). Majority of people (not the unlucky) seem to say the Atma phase takes roughly 25 hours. That would equate to a roughly 5% drop rate.

1% drop rate would mean 1200 fates in a perfect probability world (roughly 120 hours worth of fate grinding). 5% sounds more likely.

I must be one of the unlucky. Every day since the quest was added to the game, I've been doing an average of half an hour of FATE grinding (as measured by one summons of my chocobo, the clock on which stops while I'm mounted, so it really only records the time I'm off her, fighting FATE monsters), and I still don't have a full set. My grumpypants say that "doubling the drop rate" means going from... let's see... two times nuttin'... carry the nuttin'... still leaves nuttin'.
