Personally, when I go into a dungeon I don't know beforehand, I have watched a short video, I have the ffxivguild text guide on another screen, and tell everyone im new before the load barrier even comes down. I usually skip all of the cutscenes, as a compromise for people having to deal with my ineptitude.
Of course, I only run as heals or tank, so my mistakes are a lot more noticeable. I haven't tried running as a "first timer" dps character in any mmo I have ever played, so am not sure if the experience is different.

As DPS, you are easy to get away with mistakes as long as you are not running as Archer, Lancer,Puglist,Arcanist and you do not get hit by AOE more often that lead to your death or people noticed you not bother to move out of AOE at all, they don't really bother parse your DPS in Duns unless they noticed a MASSIVE different in DPS compared to a normal run.

It is still debatable that if a DPS died due to pulling aggro off the tank, whether it is tank fault or DPS fault. So, if that happens, though, the tank will be most likely to be blamed but to me personally, the DPS is also partially at fault. A good DPS is one who can control their aggro while still dealing a good DPS.

No Lionking, I wasn't running level 50 dungeons. I am close to level 40 for conjurer and was running like maybe a level 32-35 dungeon and it was just my armor that's underpowered. I've already said several times what happened and I don't want to keep repeating myself. There are rude people in certain dungeons, and that's all there is to it.

You're assuming to much Lionking and not actually listening to what I am saying. I admitted my mistake of being slightly underpowered armor wise. I didn't know about the white mage stuff, so that's why I'm sticking to some of the lower level dungeons now (those that are up to level 30). I stand by my opinion that the people in said quest were being rude and unreasonable.

Anyway, I've figured out the error of my ways, so I don't really need a telling off from you Lionking. Appreciate the attempt at constructive criticism though, I guess.

I'm sorry, but if you are running brayflox as a CNJ and not WHM, people have a valid reason to, and will, complain. it takes less than 2 hours to get acn to 15, and without the stat bonus with whm, you will have a lot of trouble keeping up, which forces the other members of the party to compensate (e.g. using cooldowns that wouldn't ordinarily be required). that is almost certainly your issue. if you want to not get whm, that's fine, and if you want to do dungeons harder than haukke, that's also fine, but pick one of those two.

I know this sounds like trolling, but LionKing explained it best. at minimum, not having a whm stone is the equivalent of a bright flashing alert that tells the entire party that you are performing severely underneath your characters optimal performance, to the point where, if I saw that, I would assume that they were trolling the party. Think of the whm stone as the lvl 30 requirement for gear. without it, your gear will never be better than lvl 30.

That said, you did mention being serious about the game. I can only assume that means that you aren't trolling, so have an issue or questions. is there a reason why you are not whm? we can be pretty good for advice on how to "get gud noob", if you let us know what the issue is.

edit- so, I just took a look at your lodestone. You are missing entire pieces of gear, and are using a lot of lvl 15 stuff as well. I will mention that this isn't diablo or WoW, green and pink gear isn't better than higher level whites. a good method is to look at item level on the gear, it will tell how good it is.

a lvl 39 CNJ with around lvl 19 average ilvl and no job stone, yeah I think you might need some assistance. We may be able to help you a bit with the basics. Let us, or even me, know if you are willing to accept help. I'll take a bit of time to explain as best I can if you want.

I won't deny there are rude people in this world but more often that most, people's rudeness is caused by something else, either by a thing, a feeling or a person. And in this case, it was your gear, your performance and your failure to upgrade your class. You assumed people rude by nature but in fact, maybe they were not but being triggered by all your mistakes. Anyway, that is enough said and hoops this little incident could help you improved on how not to get on the bad side of people. Sometimes you could not help it but most, you can avoid it. So good luck in your adventure

Extra Ring/Neck Piece = Independent Jeweler in Gridania.
Other Gear = Costa Del Sol and/or Observatorium South of Dragonhead

Without the soul stone, your stats are not boosted as the soul stone gives you a boost to healing. Unlocking the class will give you quests that allow you to get extra skills that will help in the long run as well. (Regen at 35).

I would suggest getting Arcanist to 15 and unlocking the WHM class before continuing. Even at <30 Dungeons, the soul stone allows you to do a lot better and more healing.

If you mention you're new to that dungeon and need a brief rundown of the fights must everyone will at least give a small explanation. If you don't say anything and assume people magically know you need an explanation then that's different

I'm also at level 39 with my conjurer. Look at our Mind stat difference!! You're 184 and I'm 252! We're the same level!! I don't even have the best gear on, I'm still using the level 34 Battlemage stuff.

From your description, you were running Titan aka The Navel. This is not a battle for the under geared, even if you're running the normal mode. I looked at your gear on the link provided and you are not doing yourself or anyone else any favors trying to run The Navel in it. You should definitely become a WHM and no question that the lower level gear should be replaced. You're missing some accessories (e.g. ring) that would help you immediately as well. You may have been working too hard to heal and that's when you get caught by Landslide. It knocks you off immediately, so avoid it. The other thing he uses is when he jumps into the air and lands (geocrush, I believe?). You want to stack up together at the edge and cast medica once he is going up so that it casts and you run away as he heads for the tank. If you're on that red ring, you're gone. You can also jump off the edge, so don't stand too close. Another move he uses is Weight of the Land. If the party is spread all over the place, this can get tricky to dodge, but it crushes you and causes significant damage. You might watch this video to give you a little insight. Remember, the gear that's available is to help you get through. You don't need to spend gil, just run the dungeons that provide the drops to get you through. For example, the Battlemage gear shown by zemogFC is all available as drops and you can get that whole outfit for free. Best of luck.
