Fenrir is nowhere NEAR on Bahamut's level in the Final Fantasy pantheon. I can't believe this conversation is even happening.
Fenrir was a very mediocre summon twice. ONE game had him be important, and the rest he was missing completely, a random enemy, or a nobody in some other way. Bahamut is almost always a big deal, in almost every FF.
Which is irrelevant to my comment. Titles, plural, implies in more than one title. Fenrir was only good in a single title, singular. So, OP is a liar.
Fenrir this, Fenrir that, Fenrir is just a monster. Who was important in a single title. This is not that title. Fenrir even being here is a simple FF reference and nothing more. You might have an issue with that, but none of us know the full role Fenrir will even play right now. If it is something more later that would be ok, if it isn't that would also be ok. But at this point in time the dungeon is already made, the patch finalized, Fenrir's role secured.
Nothing will change that. FFXIV Fenrir is FFXIV Fenrir, asking for it to be more just because it was in XI is kind of.. odd. FF titles are ever changing the roles summons, crystals, and the like play in each different world. What you're asking is for FF to not do as it has been doing just because you are sentimental about a Monster. There's something odd about that you know?
A certain section of FFXI Fans: Validate us S-E! Validate us!!!
And funny enough, him being a "main character" that a storyline revolved around was enough to do so again. The other thing that's funny is in the same game, there are other godlike summons that were reduced to FATE status or a dungeon boss - Diabolos was on the same level as Bahamut in terms of importance as was Carbuncle and Odin. Alexander hasn't been that important for a very long time (using the logic here: only a "few times") and people said it would be different if it was Alexander.
So no, it wasn't irrelevant, it actually makes sense, since in a way, they stepped backwards with some. Siren is really the only one that's almost always been minor.
(FYI most of the mobs in XIV came from XI.)
