Just as long as it doesn't look painted on, I'm good.~We're looking into this, but body hair would be a completely new element, and there is a possibility that it would affect some gear designs. We expect adding body hair will take a lot of work, so for now we'd like to prioritize adding new hairstyles that are being requested.
And hopefully there would be new gear that would put emphesis on the chest.
I have a feeling it'll look painted on and not quite like folks have in mind. See the picture a few pages back. Either way, its nice to have more options
It is actually difficult.
They're having to add either another layer of geometry like hair and or add in new skin texture maps.
It's not as simple as "Today I'll make some body hair, it'l be easy as pie".
It's as much a creative process as making any other piece of gear, it takes time, adjustment and effort.
Well /technically/ it's painted, but that doesn't mean it's an easy task. Any art takes time and effort.So adding a bit of hair to the chest area is actually as hard to do as making a piece of gear.

It'll be painted probably...don't get mad if that happens because SE likes to be lazy lol.
I can imagine the under arm hair will be all odd looking LOL!
I'm not saying that you're disagreeing that it takes time, I thought I'd just explain why.
Essentially it'll be three layers of texture maps (usually), sometimes other maps such as displacement maps are used.
Diffuse = "Painted Colours"
Specular = "Shiny/Wet Effect"
Normal/Bump = "Fake 3D effect, to give the illusion of a highly detailed 3D object"
A normal map being where you can apply a texture that takes into account the lights in the scene to create the illusion, the geometry is completely unchanged but it gives the appearance of a highly detailed 3D object.

I might grudgingly accept that if there are more good short hair options for Roegadyn that aren't top knots. But still, body hair, because the chances of getting a good hairstyle for Roe is practically nil when all of them come out looking like Fabio or... weird. Except the Faux-hawk. That one is ok.
i eagerly await for the day that my roe can come home from a long day of adventuring rip of his clothes expose his hairy chest walk over to his bed and pass the fudge out in a single falling forward motion
on that not i would love to have the /doze animation that roes do when logging off in an INN. epic face plant into pillow
I think chest body hair would be a awesome option to have for our male players!!![]()
