Ok, I went back and looked - looks like I got Jute from the Mandrakes, but Broombush seeds from the Jute....I've planted this same pattern again, will let you know if I get the same results....tho I hope not, I have a Broombush loop going in another bed. need more Jute!
You probably planted the Jute while there were still other plants up. Crossbreed results are determined at the time of planting which is why generally you will want to wait for the entire plot to be empty to make sure you can completely control the potential results. Plant things in a clockwise or counterclockwise manner and remember that when you plant a seed it needs to be next to something the moment you plant it in order for it to have a chance at breeding.
