this, totally thisMost people have already grinded out the atma for ninja or are about to in plans to have it ready at least the ones I know. So yes it's time. I tried to atma grind yesterday for WHM and just couldn't, started having flashbacks of doing it for my SMN, it's just not worth it. There is more than enough grind after getting the atma stones, there is no need for such a horrible drop rate on them. Oh and fyi I did spend days not getting one, just because you had better luck doesn't mean it's the same for all.
Claiming they've gone weeks without seeing one really is a bit hard to believe (though not outside the realm of possibility), but I've personally gone several days without seeing one when I was on the Atma step. I think my longest dry spell was three or four days. Just because it hasn't happened to you or someone you know doesn't mean it isn't happening and doesn't mean it couldn't stand to use some adjustment.
People aren't even complaining about the grind itself, they're complaining about the nature of the grind. Unlike the rest of the steps before and after it, the Atma step is 100% based on RNG: you get the drop or you don't, and there's nothing you can do to increase your chances. Zenith, Animus, Novus, and now Nexus are also long grinds (with a little bit of RNG), but at least you more or less have control over your rate of progress instead of being at the mercy of an invisible dice roll.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
"Something to work for with a goal" and "grind" are the same thing. The word you are looking for is "gambling", I think. No, because then that would be something to work for with a goal. It's fine the way it is now, for people saying they spent days and weeks not even getting one I call BS. Even with the worst luck in the world you would still get them, stop being lazy... it's a grind for a reason.
Yeah, no. I came back in July, started throwing my atma dice in August, got to 10 and stopped after not getting a single atma for a week of farming two+ hours each day. I'm doing all this just so I can still be sub-par and ever further behind and still need it on my PLD. Grinding for a goal I can get behind, but throwing my hours away at pointless RNG is just lame. Congrats to those who did get lucky on their drops. No, because then that would be something to work for with a goal. It's fine the way it is now, for people saying they spent days and weeks not even getting one I call BS. Even with the worst luck in the world you would still get them, stop being lazy... it's a grind for a reason.
I agree. It would be nice if they upped the drop rate a little. I've started my second set... Terrible nightmares to follow !
In this thread lucky gamblers defend the gambling game against unlucky gamblers.
The whole system needs to be revamped. Or at least give a random iLvl 100-110 drops from Fates and level 5-50 mobs. I mean why limit it to the Atma Weapon? I never understood that. We can get pieces of this from level 2 and 3 FATEs. How is that fun? How is that challenging?
Why not have a 15-20 hour questline that is fun, instead of boring? Challenging instead of mind numbing?
I'll say it again. Developers.. ask yourselves this, "When adding new content, would we, or the players do the content if there was no reward for it?"
If the answer is yes, add it.
If the answer is no, revamp the content.
I find it hilarious that the OF is against easing up on atma, but is always saying content that isn't a mindless grind (see: Coil, Titan Ex, etc.) is too hard and should be made easier.
