Whoa, honey bunny, don't take it personally. Just making a general statement, addressing some of the PvP nonbelievers. I'm sorry, I skimmed. What page is your suggestion in?I do not support opern world PvP due to current game balance of jobs mainly, but if you are thinking I am a cry baby, cheesy, or a carebear. You are more welcome to come to WoW Arthas to find out. Either you didnt read the thread or you ignore my suggestion of turn Wolf Den Pier into a PvP zone.
Besides, all I want is some duels. Could care less if full open world PvP makes it into the game... a dedicated PvP zone is much more feasible/realistic.

What's say we stop using expressions like "carebears" and "crybabies" in this thread since it doesn't really foster any real discussion about the topic at hand? It just serves to insult.
Annexing an arena in the Wolf Den Pier zone that allows anyone to attack each other within the circle is a great starting point for what I would like to see pvp-wise.
If you are a "Hardcore, competitive PvP player" as you claim, you are playing the wrong game. How about just a simple dueling system, ya cry babies? Although the hardcore, competitive PvP player is scarce in a game that caters to cheesy, cosplay PvE heroes, we do exist, and the basis of our desire for an open-world PvP server is just so we can get the action we're longing for. I personally am not satisfied with with besting dungeons and raids... my bloodlust beckons. Duels could hold me over until the day Yoshi's lazy ass figures out a way to make open-world PvP work. It would also help us better conceptualize how to best approach each individual class/job in current PvP. My 2 cents...
Open world PvP only works in an MMO when it is designed from the foundations to cater to open world PvP. Not as some tacked on afterthought.
I think they could get around it lore wise if they made it into one "zone" and call it a military exercise between the 3 nations.
Best Explanation of the 1.0 to 2.0 transition I have ever seen, pure literacy gold.

This is about the only way open-world PvP would work; a zone/map dedicated to it. High reward quests, no instances for people to enter, a few safe zones ( think FL landings ), disable Duty Finder, and throw in some World Bosses or something to get people out there, and it'll be fine. A full server dedicated to 1-5% of the PvP population without modification of the game heavily, is just a bad deal all around.
I don't see how open world PvP would work with FATES and Level Sync.
Can you imagine trying to grind atma with open PvP? Go to fate, level sync, get murdered by someone not level sync. Ok, lets make it you cannt PvP in fates... fate is over, you level synced back to 50, but you Hp/Mp are low since you get synced back. Get murdered by someone that didn't level sync. Ok, coming out of a fates nowheals you to full... I'm losing a PvP fight, run to fate level sync and drop level sync, heal to full.
The list goes on, I just think the open world isn't geared for open PvP. Too many things would have to be greatly altered in order to make open world PvP possible.

Forum Lurker Extraordinaire.
Like a good stalker, I'm always there.
I dont like open world pvp because it can really be used to troll people who dont like it, but if it is on a separate server and you have the option of going there then its not a bad idea. Making it an option Im all for... options are always good.
