Music such as "Hard to Miss" (the normal Notorious Monster FATE music) and "Torn from the Heavens" (the final tier music for many of the multi-tier FATES and for really hard ones like "The Eyes Have it" and "Go, Go, Gorgimera") is some of the best music in the game. They're two of my favorite tracks.

For me, they need to write unique music for all the dungeons, including unique trash mob combat music. That's where it gets exceptionally repetitive, imho.

Indeed. The Primals that have dynamic music based on what phase you're on are awesome.

I don't think I could turn off Titan's music, I use it too much for timing.

I remember when they made a change to XI that forced everyone who was in the party to listen to the battle music when you engaged a monster. Oh, the uproar! Prior to that, mages who never had to actually engage the monster had a quiet, relaxing fight listening to the beautiful soundtrack in Caedarva Mire or wherever.

I would like to turn off battle music as well (and FATE). If the soundtrack were better (and I'm not saying its bad, just if it were better) it wouldn't be an issue, but in its current state, it is. Some dungeons are downright obnoxious (read: all lower level ones) because of that horrible battle music that never ends. Epic songs have lost their "epicness" because I'm starting to hear them shoehorned into lesser events. It's better than it was when the game released but it lacks something that other games have\have had and that's surprising considering the legacy of Final Fantasy music.

I also understand where the op is coming from with the thought that some of the music literally makes you sick. I clocked more hours into XI during the last five years I played than I will probably do in XIV over the next 10, and to this day I'd probably only skip the San'doria theme. There's already a boatload here I turn the speakers off for.

honestly, i would love this option. ive never heard the primal battle songs, because after a couple weeks, i got so tired of the music that i dont even know what my character sounded like as a lala after my first phantasia, and i dont know what she sounds like after becoming a femroe. the onlt time i turn the volum up, is when im creating the character and im deciding the voice, after that, my tv is mute again. id rather listen to j-pop, k-pop, or some metal than the BGM presented in this game, although i do turn the volume up and go afk in limsa for the theme thats going now, not sure if it came with moonfire or the rising, but i love it, i would gladly pay to be able to listen to it whenever i wanted to, as it will most likely be gone forever once the event is over.

the issue is just that the music we ahve to listen to usually isnt all that great. ive put months of time into ffX and i never turned the volume down, and i could listen to that battle theme in the omega ruins forever, or going to any of the temples. hell, i left the screen up at final screen saying "the end" for 3 hours just to listen to that song.

i never got bored of the music in ffxi so maybe that means the music in this game isnt so great afterall. and i spent hours upon hours in jeuno/whitegate waiting while lfg and those themes never got old to me. though to be honest the music in ffxi was probally designed to be listned to for longer periods of time. the only good music in this game to me is coerthas wilds, praetorium, ramuh

I can understand your frustrations/ annoyance with some of the music themes used throughout the game. I don't know if it's so much because they're:

    1) short loop and fairly unmemorable
    2) hearing it too much and too frequently
    3) because you associate them with a bad experience(s) in the content they belong to.

In the case of #1, I'm afraid there's not much that can be done on the older content that's reasonable for the dev team. Aside from let them know that the playerbase isn't satisfied with the quality of some themes. Personally, I feel like Ifrit's theme is a bland, generic, "OMG a big boss" that is made even worse by the themes of every other single primal. While short, non-looped themes like Pharos Sirius and The Floating City of Nym area actually sound beautiful yet we hear it for less than a minute. #2 can go hand-in-hand with #1; I loved the creepy vibe of Tam-Tara's HM, Hullbreaker was refreshing, but then you get Stone Vigil HM.... Like, the lower level dungeons theme all over again. Nobody in my 1st party there missed it. #3 is really a mileage may vary sort of issue, but I know I loath Titan's theme simply because of the mechanical pattern-driven nightmare I have to associate it with.

how can something so vastly inferior to FFXI's music be considered amazing?

its like someone saying the phantom mence is amazing when what came before it was superior
