Here is the one I was going to enter for the first round. I'm sorta glad I didn't, too, because I would have gotten totally owned by the competition, lol:
Also, I'll stop flirting with the models..... so long as that's what they want. :P

I got a little bit of time, so I figured I'd re-take my first round shot. The background is still a little lacking due to a friend coming in and re-decorating my room forcefully, but I got a shot of my character I vastly prefer to my first shot.

I struggle with this as well.Maybe its a height thing because I'm probably a tad taller than you. But yes, I'm always torn between focusing on my character and outfit versus the background. For example, to get the shot I made in round 1 I had to zoom in fully and sacrifice nearly all background. Not that my background was much to look at in the first place mind you, but it was a decision point that had to be made. I tend to lean toward close ups though, because it IS modeling afterall and aren't we supposed to be trying to sell clothes here? xDBut I have to admit that the shoots usually make me hesitate or worry on which part I should focus. I always hesitate between focusing more on the global look and feel of the screenshot. Or focusing it more on my character(aka zoom on the upper body). Because this is technically a modeling event. It also doesn't help that Elezen are tall, so I need to choose between a close-up but hide most of the background. Or a more global view that makes the details of my character less visible.
Rongi? Direction please! ^^;;
I feel the same. I go back and forth with exactly that kind of decision making. i went and googled "modeling shots in <assignment>" and everyone of of them were pretty much the same. no fancy gimmicks, no quirky poses. just the model, with their assignment. complimenting each other.
So, I've decided this is about me, the model, and the assignment is my co star for every shoot. Now.. if i can just pull that off.![]()
Oh and SQ, one of your submission shots, the closeup of your face while sitting was stunning. i dont even remember the background because you stole the shot.
A lot of sexy librarians up there, I'm jelly! It's looking good! >:3
I had mine ready before I got eliminated as well, haha.

Models are judged on outfit & pose, background, and overall feeling of the picture. ^^ hope that clears things up.
