GM testimonials?

Hello. So, I've had some problems with a certain player harassing me in-game.

I've tried talking to this player calmly and respectfully and receive only disrespect, sarcasm, and a complete lack of sincerity. Basically, being a total troll. I've tried ignoring him. I've tried avoiding him. Nothing works. Every chance he gets, he strips down and starts emoting on me.

I have so far reported this player at least 6 or 7 times. I've talked to three GMs about him as well. Yet just today I finally broke silence with the offending player and asked him if anyone has talked to him about his behavior. He says no. And considering his behavior hasn't changed at all, I see no reason doubt him.

Has anyone had any success in dealing with in-game harassment? Has anyone seen any improvement after having talked to a GM? Has anyone been talked to by a GM about their behavior? I would like to see some GM success stories here so I might have some hope that something will be done.

In both FFXI, 14 1.0., and 14 ARR I've never heard of it going down with success.

They always fall back on the "just use b list" no matter what emotes go on.

I knew someone who had their delivery box spammed with junk in 11, supposed to be a punishable offense and was for the first 5 years or so. They must have made 10+ calls about being spammed and GM's never did a thing about the onslaught of 3 mules worth of delivery to their MH daily. They basically just had to do all their AH stuff on a mule cause their main char became incapable of receiving.
I do not believe your situation is hopeful unless there are major changes in the works.

As a general FYI to anyone interested, GM's in FFXI were outsourced. I believe the same is the case for 14, so this is why GM changing rules can take FOREVER. Its not SE making the protocols, its their outsource. And if they want to change it they both have to go and negotiate what they've got in those GM Manuals and such officialy.

Simple question - how does the "assaulter" always find you to use his filthy emotes upon you? I mean you can always blacklist someone and some fool jumping around you while waiting for duty to pop isn't much of problem. Also idiots usually get tired very fast if you don't bother and go find something else to do.

Actually GM's did stuff in FFXI.

I remember this troll following me around saying he was gonna kill me in real life and a GM warped him off the airship and back to port jeuno and the guy sends me a tell and says you snitch.

I replied back I didn't call a GM. which was true I didn't the GM showed up and moved him then he begins to call me liar and then I go to reply and he was gone GM must of jailed him.

They have helped me a few times except one time and it very much made me pissed off.

So I am in boyahda tree I am tanking and my woman was the healer, so she dies but we have some japanese players in the party and don't understand me.

So I ask one of them in auto translation could he speak japanese to the white mage in other party to raise her and he ? me and I ask again he .... then 5 minutes later I vanish off the game.

No message nothing, I go to try and log back in and it says ive been temp banned, so I go to the lobby and talked to a GM he asks me why I was temp banned and says that's no reason to be banned and unbans me but asks me for the GM's name who banned me and I said I have no idea he didn't show up and he said he would look into it.

this was years ago when ps2 was in its prime.

Sorry to read that OP. I'm pretty sure lots have encountered the issue.

The only way perhaps this player could stop, is if he gets reported by more than one person.

Else, as other mentionned: by giving him your attention, fuel him to continue his childish behavior.

If you stop taking notice of the chat and pointing at you, as well as not replying, he'll stop as he'll find you a boring target.

Sadly, it's not the same as in real-life, where you can be upfront the bully and.. do something about it.

Hope it will pass, cause yes it's a detriment of your enjoyment after all.

I have the utmost confidence in XIV's GMs...when it comes to very simple things. I've seen them change offensive names and other relatively easy things like that, but I've never heard of them taking care of any "bigger" matters. Of course, keep trying to contact a GM and sent them screenshots of what he does, especially if he uses filthy custom emotes

Something else you can do is, if he starts doing this and you aren't doing anything important, just go to your options and set you automatic AFK timer to 5 minutes and just do something else. After that little AFK symbol pops up by your name, he might just leave, thinking you aren't there, which allows you to go about your business. This is a trick I use for when I'm just standing around and somebody talks to me that I don't really want to respond to <_<

It sucks... I get it but, but honestly... this is a game. This guy can't do anything but act like a fool. Also, why would you believe anything they said?

/report
/teleport to hangout somewhere else until they get bored & troll someone else
/never feed the trolls unless you are a pro at ignoring them

You can find anyone with player search, btw. This is one way trolls can hunt people down to grief them. Blisting doesn't affect player search or emote spam. The GMs need to step up.
