Survey: How many of you subscibed(and remained subscribed) for the fanservice?

Lets face facts, FFXVI has MASSIVE amounts of fan-service in it. In fact, I believe that's the biggest hook they have to keep players subscribing.

The few things this game has going for it are as follows:

1. The tons of different storylines they have in this game
2. The graphics
3. The music
4. The Fan-service.

Just about everything else in the game is lackluster by comparison.

The battle system is boring and simplistic, the classes/jobs are just...ugh over all, and similarities to WoW are so obvious, its painful to even read players trying to deny the fact that this game is WoW with a fancy final fantasy coat.

Now don't get me wrong, this isn't a "omg, FFXVI sucks! I'm unsubbing!" thread because it's not. I'm just pointing out things here.

Ignoring the "bad things" for the time being, I can safely say FFXVI is a VERY FUN game to play! Its come a long way since initial launch when there was nothing do to except armor grind. In fact, they've come out with so much to do in this game, it makes it very easy to ignore all the bad things about it and it's only going to get better when the Golden Saucer gets introduced.

However, that's just more fan-service, even if it's more to do. I've seen so many theme and gimmick yanks from past FF titles, its made my head spin!(in a good way!)

But my point of this topic is this simple question:

When the fan-service runs out...will you still continue to subscribe?

I remained subscribed cause there's nothing else to play, but my interest in ffxiv greatly diminished after 2.3 hit.

I'm so sick and tired of this dumb complaint coming up over and over and over. Do you go into Wendy's and tell them they're bad because of the ridiculous similarities to McDonalds? Do you go to Honda and tell them they're just a Toyota clone? When you hear Beethoven do you rage and complain that he's just a knockoff of Mozart?

All through 1.0 I subscribed, and stayed subscribed all through 1.0, because of how big of a fan I was of FFXI, which was the best MMO i've ever played, and I was optimistic that 2.0 live up to the previous online title. I am not a fanboy however, and have remained to this day one of the most cynical critics of the game. This game has an awful lot wrong with it, but I continue to play it to this day because there is no other better MMO available in my opinion, and I've tried pretty much all of them.

I agree that the game is too much like wow, and I hate that, but let's face it, what other choice do they have. MMO's don't sell unless they are "like wow" these days, the games us old timers love that are "like eq" don't have a market anymore. Or that's what they think anyway.

This. It's like logging into every single FPS and screaming that they are all just bad counterstrike clones. There can never be another FPS, because Counterstrike was a big popular one and therefor all other games after it within the same genre are just clones.

It's as if the concept of genre is completely lost on people.

Don't waste your time, i have had this debate with those type of people many times, they refuse to accept it this isn't a clone. no matter what you tell them, they have it stuck in their head. Most don't seem to understand the difference between an inspiration and a clone. so they will keep throwing "but yoshi said it!" aka they only read what they want to read, they refuse to accept it. save your sanity.

But on topic, looks are what games are about.I am still unsure how long i will actually stay subscribed tho. but it's mainly due to simply liking how it looks.

This game isn't really heavy on the fan service, honestly.
I enjoy the raid bosses, Hildibrand, and shiny loot this game has.
