I don't understand how to spiritbond and get tier IV materia anymore.

I think I lost what just happened and need some advice or explanation. I read where they said ilvl 70 gear would be adjusted when converting to Tier IV mats.

What does this mean when trying to get a tier iv materia?

Will ilvl90 gear be 100%? As far as I know ilvl70 and ilvl90 gear was the only 2 kinds you could craft, spiritbond, and then get a tier iv materia from. With everyone working on novus and tier 4 mats already high for some of them, How do we go about getting our tier iv mats efficiently without wasting a bunch of time?

I think I feel little lost on what path to take now. Can someone please help me out?

You can get tier IV from level 45-49 gear but it's a lower chance.

i70 and i90 gear previously could grant tier IV materia as well as i45~ and above (i know i have gotten tier IV from i48 gear.)

The change that they are implementing is, when you convert i70 into materia in relation to converting i90, the i90 gear now has a higher rate at which you can obtain tier IV materia.

Since no one is able to test the new information we dont know the % at which you can obtain tier IV from i90. (Because the servers are still down currently.)

The wording states specifically, that the higher the ilvl the greater chance at which you can obtain tier IV.

Really not looking forward to these materia changes. Expensive enough already...

I am confused with what the patch notes meant here. I am pretty sure part of it meant that IL45-IL69 gears will have lesser chance to convert to Tier IV materia, in conjunction to the revised SB rate/rules to prevent people from wearing IL45-55 gears into ST and dungeons to SB as it caused quite some QQ and complaints in forums.

But the notes seems to also hint that IL70 will no longer give a 100% Tier IV conversion rate, and probably only IL90 guarantees Tier IV.

This would have a hit on the supply of Tier IV materia and cause it likely to rocket even higher.

If true, it might also hint that there might not be Tier V materia in Patch 2.4 (since IL70 guarantees Tier IV, I was expecting IL90 to guarantee Tier V), or IL90 doesn't give 100% Tier V for the new IL110 crafted gears and cause creating and pentamelding IL110 gears extremely expensive than ever.

Not sure if I understand the patch notes right. I thought when you trash Level 70 items into Materia, you will get a Materia IV for granted (never did it by myself so it is only an assumption). So what is the change? Everything below Level 70 has a lesser chance to turn into a Materia IV now?

As is typical of the first revision of 2.xx patch notes, it's likely a clerical error and they meant i70 or below gear. i70 has always yielded a tier IV materia, with i45 to i69 items yielding a tier III, plus a flat 10% chance to yield a tier IV. What's likely meant by the patch notes in practice is that spiritbinding i55 items such as Imperial Operative Wristlets will have a higher conversion chance to tier IV than, say, a Rubellite choker.

That would make sense, just can't read it in the Patch notes. But the German version of it is often misleading. Sad I can't speak Japanese since I have the feeling the original text is always easier to understand than the translated one lol.

Checking english, german and japanese patch notes it's definitely i70 and higher that is changed.
That means i70 no longer guarantees Tier4.
