Technically you shouldn't have needed on it anyways because it's DRG armor. It's pretty useless to you; SE just lets you Need on it anyways.

Steel Scale gear - and any of the other Scale gear - has pretty darn high defense/magic defense, and for the most part the same STR/VIT stat, so it's still quite useful to tanks. Plus it looks a whole lot better than those two-slot armor pieces.

On occasion if I see a new player, I'll pass on gear.

But I either use gear to equip my retainers or merch for GC seals. Either way... I'm are entitled to that reward.

What do you care? i Need and Greed on item i have no plan of using i turn them in for seals that i need. If i'm doing a very low level dungeon and there low level players that need gear. Then yes i'll pass so they can gear up otherwise i need/greed of every single item and turn them in for seals.

screw that... I greed on EVERYTHING.. I don't think it's being a douche at all.. I'm going on "exact" making if the words.. no I don't 'need' it, but I'm greedy and can turn it in for points, so "greed" it is... unless I want it for glamour purposes, which 99.9% of the time, I don't.

This Need/Greed concept that lots take into their own set of rules, entirely up to them.

If the game is designed for me to click need, the game decided I was on the right job to get it.

If I click need and I already have it, the game will tell me. Then I'll pass and say to all in the party to give them a chance to greed.

If you want a specific gear that drops into a specific Dungeons or one Boss: play the role intended.

There is nothing wrong with Need, whatever you do with that piece is entirely up to you.

Most of the time people will use it for glamour, then get bored with that look, and get GC seals from it once done.

Same with Coil, doesn't change. You are a DRG and want Tank gear? Get into Tank mode.

You are undergeared for Coil, that's why you wanted it? Then play more of your Tank, and give the Soldiery and Mythology some love to your tank, and you'll be able to get into Coil, as tank.

I don't feel pity for bad behavior in game, and hopes they'll get a Tell from a GM.

Well, your GLD is level 18. It's going to be a little bit until you can use that item for PLD.

Also, as someone already pointed out, those aren't good for tanking. They are better for DPS.

Is it ACCEPTABLE to roll Need on them? Sure, that's why the game allows you to do so. But it's bad manners.

If you care to go a little extra to do what's right, you'd roll greed in a situation like that. That way, everyone gets a fair chance on the loot that they all worked towards. For all you know, they might have a DRG that can use the item RIGHT NOW, or tomorrow. Much sooner than your level 18 PLD.

If the item you're rolling for isn't intended for the class you're currently playing, it's fair to roll Greed so everyone has an equal chance at it.

Regardless of all that, I agree it was NOT reason to kick you from the group. I would report them so that a GM can have a pow wow with them.

Def and MDef are even, it's tank armor. DRG armor has half the MDef as the Def it has

The people did you a favor from removing you from their party. That is how I would see it. If the option to Need is available then feel free to roll Need, if that is your prerogative. If your roll, be it Need or Greed, beats mine then RNJesus was with you.
