    SE did this in FFXI for delve. Delve was the main alliance end game event for the Seekers expansion. Each zone had 5 bosses and 1 mega boss they all had their own drops but once you beat a boss you would get a key item that would make a NPC sell the items that the bosses dropped. Now everything you killed in delve gave you points to buy stuff. However you only needed to kill everything once to unlock all the items on the npc and pretty much buy everything. People were geared up with all the gear in the game like after 1 month.

    Had they needed to keep farming bosses would of been much longer to gear up.

    However bosses weren't exactly push overs so people who could clear the stuff easy started charging 20m to carry people. People wanted the key item so they just needed to kill the bosses once so then they paid LSs 20m for runs through the zone. Then to get their points they would just farm trash mobs over and over to earn their points because they weren't good enough to do bosses.

    I think it was a bit silly to have all the best gear in the game after like a month. Then you are sitting around for like a year waiting for SE to come out with new content.

    Make loot from chests unique to each player with a tradeable option between members in there (ONLY for the gear in there, anything from outside the dungeon such as gil cannot be traded). Voila, almost everyone is happy... If their stuff drops.

    Spend millions to get carried by mercs, bide your time a few weeks then suddenly pop up in mor dhona in i111 bis gear and AFK showing off like you earned it, even though you couldnt even beat t5.

    I think having something like this done on older content would be nice- content you'd be doing for vanity or small progression boosts to leveling alts (so not real end game content). Although I kind of want to see really old dead content allowed for solo or duo content (discounting possible npc partners). Dead content annoys me, never die .

    For current content I think you could also do a similar system but must include more frequent clearing and particular point lockouts (solidery sort of does that but doesn't include more clearings). I imagine getting an item at the end of every clear, after X clears you have X items- you can use these to buy the unlock of an item for Y points. So a clearer example, you want to buy the Rod of Phat Stacks a drop for The Coil of RNGeus- it takes 15 RNGeus tokens to unlock, a token dropped each clear. You clear the Coil 15 times and you purchase the unlock, now you can buy the item with soldiery or whatever point system SE is currently using.

    Technically you can just add another currency specifically for whichever dungeons you are talking about, but the problem with that would be you would need to make many currencies depending on the number of hard dungeons (so you can be sure people were clearing a particular content at least a few times). Also using a token system (items from inventory) mixed with the current currency would mean that whichever currency is popular will maintain so even further, which is good because SE will connect that currency to roulette and other duties keeping the game alive for all others.

    Garuda tokens system from 1.0, content has a rare chance to drop gear but you also get a guaranteed number of tokens specific to that content every time you beat it, then you can use them to buy pieces of gear from the content you're already consistently clearing if you're unlucky with the content's RNG. Wish they would have implemented that instead of the tomes system.

    No this is a horrible idea. Either beat the content and let RNG play its factor or be stuck with lesser gear. Stop asking for handouts.

    The tokens weren't a guarantee, either. I beat King Moggle Mog and Ifrit numerous times back then and only got one weapon from Ifrit and one Ifrit token.

    What? did you have trouble reading that? did you play FFXI? because back then most people refused to help you with content unless you paied them (mercs), obviously not everyone and friends, but i think you get the idea. Like zumi stated with people charging absurd amounts of gill for clears, which is a good example of that. Just depended on how desperate you were.
