There are a lot of things wrong, and yes, the battle system is one of those things. But you know what? Another glaring problem with this game is a lack of content. Triple Triad is content. It will add solo content. It will add multiplayer content. It will add PvP content and PvE content and PvNPC content.
The general design is already set. All they would need to do is make graphics for the cards, which they could just do by taking a screenshot in a model viewer, and then set values for all the cards. Relatively speaking, it wouldn't be that hard to implement, and the benefits would be very significant. Those players who don't like the battle content or the crafting content would have another avenue for entertainment that involves lots of player interaction.
It could even make players who don't like to battle, want to battle in order to rank up a DoW high enough so that they can take on high rank monsters to farm cards.

Triple Triad, ohh i likes it, gogo :P
But how can we get it?
Bumping this thread alone isnt gonna get enough attention and we need to know how many people would be in favour.
Yoshi-P is being very open just now but theres no way to know if he will see this.
We can always hope they started working on it 5 years ago and that they will ninja it in lol.
Download my iPad app on the App Store http://bit.ly/10QMy4C ^^
Maybe bumping wont work, but were allowed to try?was dreaming about it all night and i really want triple triad or something in game. (lol, and when were on it, blitzball in limsa lominsa

I liked them both, but Tetra master is more in-depth and upgraded. The online version was even better than FF9. It was fun leveling cards. In an MMO we could get them from mobs, quests & dueling.
Um... wow. I got three pages in, laughing hysterically, before I realized you guys were serious.
I guess maybe it's okay, content is content. As long as it doesn't stretch the already frenzied dev team too thin. I'd rather they be working on fixing the core game issues.

I think that Tetra Master was too complicated for its own good. Most people I know prefer Triple Triad because it was easier to play and more consistent. In Tetra Master, the card values change, and are displayed in some weird hexadecimal format. Please refer to my original thread about adding a card game:

Gameplay that is "simple yet deep" is what should be the goal here, in my opinion. Tetra Master is "confusing and deep".
It seems complex at first but it's actually very simple.
However in the Online version i can't recall the Hexadecimal part. I remember seeing the values of everything on the cards. Anytime i refer to Tetra Master, i mean the Online version.CARD STATISTICS
Each card has a combination of four letters and numbers on it. These numbers and letters display the strength of the card, and determine which card wins in a card battle.
The first number is the card's attack power in hexadecimal, from 0 to E, with E being the highest.
The second statistic is the card's attack type. P is Physical, M is Magical, X attacks the lowest defense number, and A attacks the lowest number on the card.
The third number is the card's physical defense in hexadecimal. The fourth number is the card's magical defense in hexadecimal.
When two cards battle, the just-placed card attacks using the attack number (the first stat on the card) and the attack type (the second stat on the card). The just-played card's attack number is compared to the corresponding defense number on the enemy card. The card with the highest number usually wins, although there is a small chance that a weaker card can still beat a stronger card.
You can raise the statistics on cards by playing with certain cards over and over and winning numerous Tetra Master games with them.
