just the items i showed is 8 stacks wasted. that's not multiple stacks of anything. reading comprehension does count btw.Well excuse me then, I didn't notice cloth fent. Also I never said it was your job to search for these, I invited you to look. Not my problem if you don't want to look, but at first glance yes Clothcraft gets the short end of the stick on repair mats. However, you can't make everyone happy when you're doing large scale changes so my advice to you is suck it up. Otherwise, stop whining about your stacks and stacks of fents. By the way, how many stacks of fents do you have? Because if you wasted loads of cloth making fents that wasn't a wise move for a couple reasons:
1. Simply looking at the YG recipe lists would have showed you that they're only for repair, unless you're trying to sell them. Which leads into
2. Repair materials do not drive the economy as much as you would like to think. Now, someone may buy a stack of Iron Nuggets but they're not using that to repair 99 items - they're using that for a skillup. No one is going to buy your stack of fents when it only has 1 purpose.
You made a bad decision in making a load of fents when they only have one purpose. Your options now are save them in case they come up with a recipe for them or NPC them - the choice is yours. But no one is going to put everything on hold just because you can't do anything with your stock of fents.
I had a similar problem too - I made stacks and stacks of wolf leather and stockpiled alumen and formic acid, and then a patch adjusted the skill rank for Wolf Fur which made it useless as a skillup synth. So I sucked it up and moved on to other recipes.

So does being able to count, you only posted 7:
Also I asked how many stacks of fents you created, not what you posted there. You never said in that post that this is what you created that's "going to waste".you must not have looked too hard.
hempen fent 0 recipes
cotton fent 0 recipes
canvas fent 1 recipe
velveteen fent 0 recipes
linen fent 0 recipes
chamois spetch 0 recipes
raptor leather spetch 0 recipes
that's 8 stacks of materials that are completely wasted besides the making of vintage hose. looks like maybe they do have something to worry about with all of their mats. i didn't even look up all of the items either just the ones i didn't think had any recipes.
What is the total amount of fents of all cloth you have created that you're so upset about?
"I know not what brings men joy. Of what drives them to great deeds, of what legacies they hope to leave, I know less yet. But I do know this: The true hero of this tale was the man forgotten."
YOU can choose to carry dark matter only and save whatever amount of space..... how is that smart in any way?
Would you carry the more realistic items for sake of lore and immersion which take half your inv space?
or
Will you carry the more compact and streamlined version saving inventory space, making the process simpler, not a waste of gameplay time ?
No one will ever know what type of item you are carrying because you will not be shouting to the world that you are carrying this repair mats and not the dark matter because you enjoy lore...
The only ones I see slightly affected are the role players but Dark matter in itself has its own lore, we just need to wait for the in game text...
The choice should be left with the player - Seeing as how there's this thread, some people do choose to use old material.
I carry very few repair materials such as velveteen fent and buffalo spetch. It works out for me because many items use this, and they are cheap and easy to get.
Perhaps Dark Matter will be more expensive and harder to get than crafting some fent. This is a potential reason why I would carry the old mats.
I never said not use Dark matter or that I wouldn't carry any.
And no one needs to know what I'm carrying. It's not like things should be repaired within 10 seconds that you entered uldah. If that's whats going to happen, just get rid of the repair system .

Precisely. There are so many times I've seen some odd item on my LS mate's bazaar needing repairs but I either didn't have enough of the item to be willing to repair it for the price they were offering (Jadeite for Jade horas) or didn't carry it (just about everything that wasn't branches for CRP).
The dark matter will let me repair anything my LS mates have up for repairs no matter where I might run into them.
I usually keep all the fents around on me to repair crap, but for some crafters its harder to keep all repair materials around, it also cuts down on inventory slots, at max now as a high level crafter with a game that has all levels of people you'd need 5 slots dedicated to this, and most people I think won't have all 5 on them, only some dedicated people might. On my server carpentry repairs are so hard to get, maybe this will help. you can shout "carpenter need" or w/e i say with auto translate and no one answers or comes, sometimes I think no one has the repair material.
Like if your quitting the game because of this.
ok ya caught me i did miscount my own post. get the firing sqaud, but that still doesn't change the fact those will be worthless with nothing to use them on. that was what the original point was about that you argued they all had recipes. So does being able to count, you only posted 7:

Then I retract that they all have recipes, it's obvious that Clothcraft doesn't make out well with this. How many fents do you have on you total? Unless you made 2 stacks of each type it's not a deal breaker man. There's other mats in this game that have no use too.
"I know not what brings men joy. Of what drives them to great deeds, of what legacies they hope to leave, I know less yet. But I do know this: The true hero of this tale was the man forgotten."
i like the thought of only 5spaces for fixing mats and i also think later it will be hard to find people to fix your stuff either way, i think lowering the cost of npc to a usable price will be a good idea, that way we can just use that lol, it will take some gils out the game at least.
but all in all i do think op is right in that it is generic, if gonna push it down to this simple of a thing they might as well get rid of it all together. i think they just looking back at the game and just know they screwed up every inch of this game and still launched it.
