Wherefore art thou Circle of Scorn

I do not understand the purpose of this ability. It's 100 potency, with a DOT of 150 potency.

It makes no sense in any context. It doesn't do enough enmity to matter, it's half a flash in total.

All it does is damage, but that's not really gladiator's job at all. And even if it were, it's rather lackluster. Compare it to every damage ability in the game. Other DoTs are something you're trying to maintain at all times. Chaos Thrust, Phlebotomize, Fracture on Warrior, Touch of Death, Demolish, Everything summoner does...they're all supposed to be maintained indefinitely. Why is Circle of Scorn a DoT when you can't maintain it?

It doesn't make sense to even be an AOE. Paladin doesn't have any AOE abilities other than Flash. Dragoon has AOE cooldowns, but they also have doom spike and ring of thorns for them to support. Same with Monk. You can't really DO anything with the AOE damage as a Paladin.

So why does this ability even exist?

PLD is more Defensive tank than WARR but that doesn't mean PLD can't do DPS. some people like to go all out def and stack Parry, but for me, I'm stacking CRIT /DET on my stuff. so any extra damage ability are welcome for me especially Off-GCD one.

Sure, dealing damage is clearly not the job of a tank in any capacity. You should strive to do as little damage as possible because it's not your job.

Circle of Scorn is actually one of the most potent (in terms of single use, not overall DPS contribution) oGCD attacks in the game. Off the top of my head, only Fester (300), Dragonfire Dive (250), and Power Surge'd Jump (200 x 1.5) really compare. Everything else is either 150 or less and typically has some other CC debuff tied to it. Even our WAR counterpart should be pretty envious; we get this and the (up to) 300 pot Spirits Within while they get Brutal Swing (100).

Yeah it does crap damage, I just use it for grabbing adds when a GCD takes too long. Of course I also use it whenever it's up besides that.

It is THE best off gcd ability hands down.
250pot every 25s thats also aoe and free.
Closest thing to it is dragonfire dive thats same potency but has 180s cd.
