Targeting players just because of their lower gear isn't very fair lol. I'd rather have my ass handed to me by a very skilled player (in what is essentially a leveled playing field due to ilvl cap) than deal with the snoozefest of picking off undergeared players, not bettering the way I play, and cowering in fear of people in HA gear.I don't want that personally. Seeing your opponent's gear allows you to assess their stats and skill in a quick manner (someone with full High Allagan vs. Someone in full Artifact, ie), and allowing glamor would prevent such a gauge. I also don't want to see a full alliance of snow men either... there's certain immersions that shouldn't be touched.
Some of the fun to be had in PvP is having some degree of unity. It's equivalent to the old school clans that people would form back in the day, where the games didn't support such things, but rather people had to do things that made them seem unified (e.g. account names with clan names attached, similar looks, etc).
In a few weeks this method of scanning isn't going to work because, due to the i80 sync, some low pieces are actually better than the "high level" drops. My SCH set (crit/speed) looks very different and uses pieces from CT1 and Myth set, even though I have downed T9.I don't want that personally. Seeing your opponent's gear allows you to assess their stats and skill in a quick manner (someone with full High Allagan vs. Someone in full Artifact, ie), and allowing glamor would prevent such a gauge. Seeing as everyone has the job nametags as enemies, I don't see why glamour can't be allowed. I would absolutely love charging into battle on my Roegadyn alt, Incredulous Bulk. You can guess what he looks like.
XI: Zeroblade, Titan Server
I didn't anticipate liking PvP, but honestly I cannot get enough of it. I actually seem to improve after each battle, too, which just makes it all the more exciting. And now that the queueing issue is fixed, I'll be using it to grind myths and wolf marks. I am even going to start a Twin Adder LS on my server, just to bring a coordinated team in. It's really THAT fun! It makes me feel a strong sense of community with my GC brethren that impresses upon me more than the outcome of the battles themselves.
Two PvP suggestions for WHM:
- During PvP, make it so we can cast protect on our alliance members as well as our party members.
- During PvP, make it so we can cast Medica and/or Medica II on alliance members, as well as our party members.
Actually the second suggestion might make WHMs too powerful, but I'd still like to cast protect on alliance members in the field, if that doesn't turn out to be too game-changing to do.
Keep up the great work, SE (and community team members)!
frontlines is a lot better since the update..now if only we can do something about the sore losers that rage quit.
I, too, was surprised at just how much I enjoy Frontlines, despite my dislike of the Wolves Den. I probably sat down for about two hours straight and just kept queuing for matches, and even though my GC only won one out of the six or so matches (c'mon Maelstrom!) I was having a lot of fun with it. That said, I do hope that Morale is added into the mix at some point, because I really think it'd be cool to see a group all decked out in the animal-themed armor sets. Or at the very least allow Glamour to be visible, heh.
I am really liking Frontlines more than I thought I would. Could be due, in part, to Immortal Flames utterly dominating in Balmung, but just the fact that the i100 PVP gear is actually within my reach now... it's pretty great! Also, I can run Frontlines as a huge part of capping my weekly Soldiery.
