I never considered legacy worth it, so you can see how much i care about exclusivity.
I actually looked at a different page and saw you did actually play. But either way it was originally a joke to someone telling me to go back to a different game.

I bet a good portion of these people who are saying it's unfair are the kids in school who got given a trophy regardless of how they performed, because everyone should be identical after all.
Generally when blizz does these things it's still only sold for the duration of the event. It's still exclusive, just only exclusive for those who are playing at the time of the event instead of exclusive for the people who happen to live in the right part of the country.

And this isn't Blizzard. Also, Blizzard didn't do that at first either and if Blizzcon didn't become such a huge success as it did they probably wouldn't be doing it now. Two entirely separate companies, why are we comparing them?

That shield extends the duration of food. For those that use the more expensive food, that is arguably a large in game advantage.

Being able to turn into a Moogle is possibly the biggest advantage ever.

Why are we comparing them? Possibly because FFXIV borrows so heavily from that game?

To further make my point: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/48205

Lastly, here’s another excerpt from my E3 trip: The day after E3 ended, I had the opportunity to visit one of my most admired game studios—Blizzard Entertainment! I was able to speak with the World of Warcraft, DIABLO III, and cinematic teams about CGI techniques, and game development and operation in general. The Blizzard guys were extremely friendly and open, and I’d like to take this chance to thank them for a very valuable exchange! I hope to visit them again with tales of how well version 2.0 turned out.

Or, what they should actually do is have a 3 day and 1 day ticket and give everyone the in game items.

    Lol
I'm a Legacy player I could barely play the game during 1.0, I didnt get the Goobbue mount. didnt even know about it till it was too late >_> don't believe me? my legacy player name is Wildjenna Darkstorm ( I chose Kitanashia for the forums because I like her blue skin ). I dont have much done during 1.0 but there are legacy achievements there. okay I stand corrected seems I dont have any achievements for 1.0 but I do have this
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...th_astral_era/ <---which shows very little activity but well I could barely play the game because it made my PC choke. still the Goobbue was something you had to quest in game to get, it wasnt a Legacy reward.

I would be kinda happy if they let us buy a streaming ticket so we could watch fanfest and allow us to earn a version of the ingame(yeah I would make 2 or 3 of the same item but make them distinct enough so you could tell where someone got it. I.E. maybe make the fanfest one for the physical attendance in some sort of summer time colour scheme. and maybe change up the one for streaming to a springtime or autumn scheme. and if there is a 3rd on the mogstation give it a totally different sceme or maybe make it so its different in another way like how some of the DoH/DoL items have either white or black trim on them) item that way. but something tells me SE isn't going to do that

Because they make the same type of product, and have the same type of events? It's pretty obvious A realm reborn took a good bit of inspiration from WoW, why would we not compare them, or look at things WoW has done.

Find a copy on EBay or w/e with an unused code and you still can. I bought 1.0 ages ago with the intention of upgrading my PC but never actually opened my copy. 1.0 died then ARR launched on PS3, I bought that, then dug out my copy of 1.0 and used the code on my new account.

My personal opinion on FanFests and items is pretty simple.

Regardless of what they currently do, what other people do, what people have done in the past, I believe any exclusive items from a FanFest or Event should remain physical items.

My reasoning is that these events are not "available to everyone" as many try to claim, particularly because of the cost disparity based on where you live, what you do for a living, how you can arrange your work/personal schedule, etc. This ends up bringing more real life circumstances in to impact the game.

And somewhat related, I also look at it this way. I pay monthly for access to the game and continue paying (along with many others) to continue developing the game. Cases like this make it seem to me like they are using those resources I am paying in to to produce an item that won't be available to me. I have the same opinion about items (not services) available via a cash shop in general on a pay-to-play game.

Also, did you know? People who join the game late won't have access to limited IN-GAME ITEMS AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE FOR A SHORT TIME? Say, a Chocobo Earring, available for 2 weeks, if the person joins 3 years from now, they'll never have access to it.

Same concept as Festival exclusive items - It's available to everyone, unless you can prove that Las Vegas/Europe/Japan banned you from ever visiting their cities. If you can't make it, that's unfortunate, but the opportunity is available as long as tickets remain, when tickets run out then there's no more opportunity.

This is a weird way to look at it. The way I see it, I'm paying so botters and hackers can ruin my gaming experience, that's far worse use of your money than an item you can't access if you don't go to a festival
