FFXI only had an in game limitation of 10 history slots... FFXIAH (although third party) solved those issues, which they really were not issues in the first place.
This games economy is currently having issues due to many things, not the market boards that everyone likes to criticize.
90% of end game gear being rare/ex and unsellable, crafting being far to easy to level... over-abundance of crafting materials making it pointless to farm them for gil...
LOL, Well, RL Auctions are kinda suppose to be that way, and RL Auctions there is no undercutting, there's "overcutting" XD. 3,500.. can I get 3,500 ( raises hand) can I get a 4,500? and goes up and up. In FFXIV, the price just keeps getting undercut. is really isn't a "medium/constant price" One minute it's 200g, 3 days later it's 1k, then back down to 500g.
In a gaming environment, Having to know the price of every posted item , allows people to sell for 1g cheaper and the next will do the same until eventually 1 person buys the cheapest item. Having the prices blindfolded, allows for people to gauge the price based on price history to "possibly" undercut in a fair manner. Not this 1-10g stuff.
But hey, that is only how I feel about it :P.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I was more or less being silly with my post, because I made a thread many moons ago in support of the blind bidding system, and that's what happened to me; well, that and insults. xD
I mean the fate system, with its open claim system and shared loot would probably create a pretty healthy and stable economy, even with the seldom undercutter. Personally, I loved FFXI's AH system![]()

Games that take economies too real or too serious fail
I feel that the people who want a deep economy want people to rely on them, a bunch of hungry poor people grinding for months just to make/buy something good.
The only way to make a deep economy is to make people suffer with extreme rare loot and scarcity
I like FFXIV because it's a rich economy where there's an abundance of everything so that everyone can prosper together. And no...blind auctions are terrible XD

This... and also like FFXI, the seller should be charged a fee for putting it into the Market wards, and not just when it is sold. That way if you want to undercut someone and keep changing your price everytime you see fit, you would get taxed heavily. The only reason the economy is how it is now, is because we can see the prices of items. FFXI only showed the last 10 transactions of an item. leaving to practically guess if there was a silly person who put the item up for 1 gil ( that could be a 10k+ item lol), or trying to save money based on the Price History. ( people would even go as far as going 1 gil at a time to buy the lowest price on the button LOL.)
I would like to have FFXI Economy system, so we don't have much "Under cutters". Only reason people under cut is because people know what the other people's price is. If we didn't know it would be very hard to undercut 40 people of the same item.
Yeah this post pretty much sums up why I'd take XIV's economy over XI's.Games that take economies too real or too serious fail
