I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.
The second a game becomes about living up to another person's expectations you can count me out. This is a game, not a job.
You know, there's a lot of arguing about whether or not DPS meters are good or evil:
You can argue why you think you need them, but are they worth your account?
I was curious the game's take on DPS meters, so I decided to ask them, here's the reply I got from a GM on the subject:
So if you don't like damage meters, report people that use them.
Most people obsessed enough to use a damage meter generally value their account.
I think SE kinda settled this issue so not sure why it's really worth talking about except for the fact that a lot of people are clueless and just install game addons without even questioning what the risks are.
More on the subject...
Personal opinions aside, seriously...

Basically, SE wants to you to record yourself doing a rotation, sit down and manually calculate your DPS. So spending 2~4 hours per 3m fight to calculate, re-calculate if you're doing your rotation right.
So they need to add a parser so this isn't necessary, or we can just continue vote abandoning fights because people don't know what they are doing.
Or you know you always have the option of helping them learn.Basically, SE wants to you to record yourself doing a rotation, sit down and manually calculate your DPS. So spending 2~4 hours per 3m fight to calculate, re-calculate if you're doing your rotation right.

I mean granted, I know there are many without tolerance for people learning... I'm just saying...
I've never used a DPS meter. I help people all the time. People have been learning and progressing in this game since the game began and many others since basically forever. without DPS meters. If you NEED a DPS meter to teach someone you should look for a meter that can help you improve your teaching, problem solving or even social skills.
I've never had a problem figuring it out. I've never had a problem with the people I group with helping and talking with each other to improve.
The only place maybe a DPS meter could have value over interaction is maybe in a pug.
I'd bet people getting kicked out of the duty finder where people go to learn because those with DPS meters in a premade portion of the group vote kick them for low DPS goes against everything SE wants for their game.
I mean when you vote kick, there isn't exactly an option "because they suck" for a reason.
Anecdotal evidence isn't valid.I've never used a DPS meter. I help people all the time. I find it interesting that you're spending team teaching people how to DPS, but what are you doing? Just watching them, neglecting your own role? There's a reason for DPS meters, you understand it but refuse it. That's fine. Difference of opinion.
